Richarlison adds to Postecoglou's woes as Tottenham star faces surgery on injury
Richarlison has confirmed he will undergo surgery on his pelvis in the near future - with Tottenham's injury list growing.
Spurs have made a superb start to the season under new manager Ange Postecoglou, winning eight of their first 11 Premier League games to sit just a point behind leaders Manchester City. Yet they suffered a humbling 4-1 home defeat to Chelsea on Monday.
Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie were both sent off for Tottenham against the Blues and will now complete bans. Spurs also lost Micky van de Ven (hamstring) and James Maddison (ankle) to injury during Monday's game.
Brazil international Richarlison was left on the bench by Postecologu as he tried to reshuffle his side after losing the quartet. It has now emerged that he is struggling with a pelvis injury and plans to have surgery to fix the problem. He revealed as much after being left out of Brazil's squad for Novembers internationals.
"The last few months haven’t been easy for me," Richarlison told ESPN. "I’ve had health problems. I’ve already spoken to the doctors and soon I would do surgery on my pubis.

"I’ve been suffering, fighting for my national team and my club for eight months and haven’t been taking care of myself. I think it’s time to rest, to stop for a second. I’ll think about it in the next few days and soon I will do what is best for me."
Richarlison's career has stalled since joining Tottenham from Everton in a £60million deal in July 2022, scoring just two goals in 37 Premier League appearances for his current club. The forward admitted he would "seek psychological help" in September before finding the net in the win over Sheffield United.

Richarlison is determined to get back to his best. He scored 10 goals and provided five assists during his final season with Everton and would love to replicate that form in north London, especially after Harry Kane's summer transfer from Spurs to Bayern Munich.
Yet Richarlison's upcoming absence is a blow to Postecologu. As well as those aforementioned, the Aussie is also missing Ivan Perisic (knee), Manor Solomon (knee), Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), Ben Davies (ankle) and Alfie Whiteman (ankle).
Richarlison said he was "sad" when he found out about his Brazil admission but is determined to regain his spot. He added: "I have to be playing. I have to be feeling well, I have to be 100 per cent and I haven’t been, I think the manager made the right choice.
"The guys are flying. So it’s up to me to keep working. I’ll definitely be back. I didn’t get here by chance. It’s up to me to work hard every day and get into a rhythm here at Tottenham... I was hoping for it (international call up) but already felt that it was time for a rest."
