Former child star Evan Ellingson dies aged 35 after battle with drug addiction

Evan Ellingson, who starred alongside Cameron Diaz in My Sister's Keeper, has died at the age of 35, according to reports.

The former child star died on Sunday at his home in San Bernardino County. Evan's body was discovered in his bedroom at a sober-living home.

Evan hadn't starred in any movie or TV production for 10 years. The circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be confirmed but officials have suggested there was no foul play involved.

Evan's father, Michael, confirmed to TMZ that the death has come as a complete shock to his family. Evan was known for his role opposite Cameron in the 2009 movie playing her teenage son, as well as for his recurring role on CSI: Miami where he played Kyle Harmon in 18 episodes over three years.

Evan began his career in showbiz at just 13-years-old with a bit part in a TV movie, and a small role in General Hospital. He then wen t on to appear in TV shows including Titus, That Was Then, Mad TV, Complete Savages, Bones, and 24.

He also starred in movies including Walk the Talk, Letters from Iwo Jima, The Bondage, Confession, Rules of the Game, Time Changer, and The Gristle. However, he appeared to give up on Hollywood circa 2010 with no acting credits to his name since then.

Evan had allegedly struggled with drug addiction in the past but is believed to have been doling well more recently. According to IMDB Evan's brother, Austin Ellingson, died of a drug overdose in 2008.

Evan found his big break when he was cast Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland)'s nephew Josh Bauer in the sixth season of 24 in 2007. He previously told Philstar Global how he had no regrets about finding fame at a young age.

He said: "I never had the same childhood)experience with my friends. I never had more time with them. However, my childhood was a cool one. I was busy doing the things I love. I had no regrets because I found my passion for acting early on.”
