Machine Gun Kelly breaks silence on awkward Martin Brundle exchange at Brazil GP

American rapper Machine Gun Kelly has hit back at criticism of his "vibe" following an awkward exchange with Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle on live TV.

The singer-songwriter, born Colson Baker, gave blunt answers when Brundle did his best to have a brief chat during his grid walk ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix. Machine Gun Kelly's demeanour resulted in online backlash after Formula 1 fans endured the painful viewing which included him inspecting Brundle's poppy.

The Sky favourite broke his silence on Sunday evening after the race in Sao Paulo and now Machine Gun Kelly has taken to social media to share his side of the story. Responding to a private account which appeared to have labelled his vibe "the worst," the 33-year-old - who calls himself 'blonde don' on Twitter - asked: "How?

"Because someone put a microphone in my face essentially forcing me to do a random interview when i was just trying to enjoy an event? Because car engines were so loud I couldn't hear him? Please tell me more about why I'm the worst."

Fans of Machine Gun Kelly, who ended the impromptu interview with a thumbs down towards the camera, jumped to support him. The star also posted, seemingly in reference to backlash: "My anxiety has won. I hate being in public."

Brundle, meanwhile, took the exchange much more lightly, just like after being snubbed by another musician from the United States two years ago, Megan Thee Stallion. Following another of Max Verstappen's emphatic wins in Brazil, Brundle took to social media to share a photo of Megan The Stallion, Machine Gun Kelly and actress Megan Fox, the latter's girlfriend.

"Finally, my claim to fame, I've met two of these three people," he joked. "I do appreciate them taking some time out on the grid for our great sport... I hope they didn't find me too weird."

Brundle had attempted to have a conversation with Machine Gun Kelly about his career during his customary grid walk before the race, but the rapper was only receptive when it came to talking about Formula 1. "I think your business is great," he told Brundle.

"It's loud, your life is on the line and that's exciting. I was in a studio the other week and Lewis Hamilton was in the other studio. That was nice, yeah."
