Lego fans have been left unimpressed by Lego’s Avengers advent calendar, as people online slammed it as offering “lazy” gifts.

The new toy boasts a number of Marvel’s loved heroes, including Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America and Spider-Man and costs around £25. It joins Lego’s other 24 day advent calendars including Harry Potter and Star Wars. However some people online have been left unimpressed by some of the gifts available on some of the days. Of particular concern is Dr Strange’s cloak coming on December 17 - the day before the figurine of the character played by Benedict Cumberbatch on December 18 - splitting what could arguably have come together into two separate days.

The Sun reported a reviewer saying of the toys: “I still can’t get over the fact that one of the days you get a cape and then next you get the mini fig…. My jaw legit dropped when I saw that. Lego makes so much money from us and they do something like that, idk if I’ll ever buy an advent calendar again after that."

Another said: "A single part that should have been included in the Dr. Strange figure. This literally made my nephew cry and feel cheated upon discovery. This is the last advent we will ever buy." Other elements that have people irked include a jet pack for Captain America - despite him not wearing one in the films. The Mirror has approached Lego for comment.

Legos’ blurb for the advent calendar reads: “Give a young Super Hero a special start to the festive season with the Marvel Avengers Advent Calendar. Behind each of the 24 doors is a daily gift for kids to discover throughout the Christmas build-up. There are seven minifigures – Okoye, Doctor Strange, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wong, Iron Man and Black Widow – plus mini builds and accessories that kids will recognise from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including a mini Quinjet and the Hydra Train. As the big day approaches, kids can mix up the gifts to create endless imaginative Super Hero adventures.”

Earlier this year it was reported a Lego fan came across a box of the toy from 1974 and found a sweet note believed to be from the . Alongside a photo of the letter, it read: “In the 70s LEGO used to insert in its boxes a message for the parents. A powerful reminder that even when we play equality matters.” The note, which has been printed with some official-looking writing at the bottom, reads: “To parents, the urge to create is equally strong in all children. Boys and girls. It’s imagination that counts. Not skill.”
