Corrie boss confirms two villain returns as Adam Barlow 'held by gunpoint'

Coronation Street looks set for explosive scenes as boss Iain MacLeod has confirmed two villains will be returning to the hit ITV soap.

Speaking to press recently, including the Mirror, Iain teased the upcoming winter storylines, revealing that both Damon Hay and Harvey Gaskell will be back. It comes as new filming photos see Adam Barlow "held at gunpoint" by Damon as part of a shocking revenge plot.

Viewers will recall that Sarah Barlow 's affair with Damon came to an explosive head earlier this year and after her husband, Adam, learnt she had lied about him being the dad of her baby, which she later tragically lost in heartbreaking scenes, their marriage came to an end with Damon not seen on-screen since June.

Yet this is all set to change as Iain teased: "It kicks off, almost in the first moment of the New Year, as it is revisiting the unfinished business between Adam, Sarah and Damon. So yeah, we arrive in the New Year. Adam and Sarah are rubbing along okay and they're trying to amicably co-parent Harry as per the agreement when they split up. It's going alright, and then suddenly, wallop, Adam finds himself in this nightmarish situation all at the hands of Damon, who has unexpectedly come back."

Teasing that Damon has been plotting his revenge, Iain said: "The first of [Damon's plans] is that he wants to get his revenge on Adam and the second of them is that he wants Sarah back because he feels like she's 'the one' and he will essentially have to contend with the fact that these two plans might not be compatible, like can he have his revenge and also have Sarah? The answer might well be 'no'. So which one is he going to choose? It's a brilliant, exciting, high-octane story."

However, Iain further teased: "Just in case you thought that was all going to be smooth running from there or plain sailing from there. Adam can't stand the idea that this guy's back and he's maybe got his sights on Sarah, who at this point, is still his wife although they are going through a divorce.

"He decides in his mind that to protect Sarah, he might want rid of Damon so as Damon's calming down, Adam's going in another direction and his plans to rid himself of Damon will see him pay a little visit to Damon's half-brother, Harvey, because he's no fan of Damon's either, and they might form this unholy alliance. They have a shared problem in the form of Damon and they think they can help each other in that regard."

Iain revealed the storyline is "packed full of twists and turns and excitement", adding: "A kind of whirlwind romance for Damon and Sarah. I should also point out that Sarah's family are certainly no fan of her new love interest Damon, given what they know about his backstory, so there's lots of really funny, Meet The Parents, type stuff."

And it looks as though it's explosive scenes as in filming pictures obtained by Daily Star, it sees Damon hold Adam at gunpoint in a shock revenge plot.
