Angela Scanlon has told how she is in the best shape of her life thanks to Strictly - saying: “I feel absolutely ripped.”

The TV presenter, who is paired with Carlos Gu, told how she has thrown herself into the physical challenge of the show and discovered a new, sexier side of herself. And Angela, 39, admitted the transformation has gone down a storm with her husband, who she thinks would like her to bring home some of the outfits.

She smiled: “Maybe when he sees the samba gear. And maybe the jive gear too because there was a bit of leather in that. My husband’s grand, he’s really happy. He’s enjoying seeing a different side to me that’s been buried for about 40 years. But that was part of the challenge this week.

Carlos kept saying: ‘It’s in there, we just need to find it.’ It’s about being open to all of those aspects of yourself and we’re more comfortable in certain versions of ourselves than others. And I’m really pushing myself now because rather weirdly, before the show I was rather stuck in my ways.”

The couple have been undergoing gruelling rehearsals. But Angela says the hard work is really paying off. She went on: “My God, honestly, I feel absolutely ripped and I don’t stop eating. In the past I’ve had quite a complicated relationship with my body and was too hard on myself.

“After having the girls I went in the opposite direction and was very gentle. But it’s been lovely to be back in a space where I’m being properly pushed physically and I can do it. It’s very good for the confidence I think.”
