Danny DeVito poses with rarely-seen daughter at opening of their Broadway play
Danny DeVito made a public appearance alongside his daughter Lucy DeVito earlier this week, as the pair celebrated their latest collaboration in the acting industry.
The award-winning actor, 78, and his eldest child Lucy, 40, were at the opening night of the play I Need That in New York City, New York, on Thursday. They are among the cast of the Broadway production at American Airlines Theatre.
The play - which is schedule to run through December 30 - began its previews last month and had its opening night this week. Danny, who plays the lead character Sam, and Lucy, who plays Amelia in the new show, were in attendance.

Danny - who's been in films like Batman Returns (1992) and Twins (1988) - was seen wearing a navy shirt, accompanied with a black suit jacket and matching trousers, at the event. He wore a pair of black shoes as part of the outfit too.
'Wish upon a star for more recouplings like Stormzy and Maya Jama'Lucy instead opted to wear a black and white dress for the special occasion in the city earlier this week. She seemed to have paired the dress with some black stilettos, which were briefly visible as she graced the red carpet at the theatre.
The father and daughter posed together on the red carpet at the event. Lucy's mother Rhea Perlman, 75 - whose acting credits include films like Barbie (2023), and who starred alongside Danny in Matilda (1996) - was also in attendance and posed for a photo with the castmembers.
A synopsis for the play teases: "[Sam] doesn't get out at all, opting instead for the safety of his house in the company of his things - his many, many things. But when a notice from the government arrives alerting Sam that he must clean up his property or face eviction, he's forced to reckon with what's trash, what's treasure, and whether we can ever know the difference between the two."
Lucy has followed in her parents' footsteps by becoming an actor herself. Her credits include roles alongside her father in films such as Dumbo (2019) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), as well as having appeared in Netflix's Blonde (2022).
She's also credited as having appeared in a number of TV shows including It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Melissa & Joey and the US adaptation of Shameless. Lucy's also been in episodes of the acclaimed The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The actor is the eldest of Danny's three children with his former partner Rhea, whom he married in 1982. The former couple - who are separated but remain married - are also parents to Grace DeVito, 38, and Jacob DeVito, 36.
