'I tried The Perfume Shop's calendar & suprisingly found some new scents I love'
Christmas seems like it's around the corner now and with it comes the need for advent calendars. As someone who avoids dairy I find that the classics are out and in their place I've been quite partial to 'beauty advent calendars'.
While the Lush advent calendar feeds my pampering side and one filled with rum means I'm stocked for pre-drinks for the foreseeable, I felt that there was something missing. Everyone who knows me knows how much I love perfume and typically have quite strong opinions on them.
My personal collection is filled with vanilla based scents as I love a gourmand, but I got my hands on The Perfume Shop's advent calendar which gave me a chance to try out some big names in the world of perfume. Some of them I really liked and some... might be showing up in my loved ones stockings.

There are 25 boxes and in them are either a small perfume, a mirror or possibly my favourite item that allows you to take a small amount of perfume out and about with you. The calendar contains:

The bottles are so cuteI loved the attention to detail in the smaller bottles, while they might not sound like huge samples each bottle has the potential to last weeks which means the calendar could get you through to next Christmas. My favourite scents were Mugler Alien, Estee Lauder Beautiful Magnolia L’eau Deluxe and Moschino Toy Boy which surprised me as I'm normally a big fan of gourmand fragrances.
Alien is quite simple with an amber base, cashmeran heart and jasmine as the top note. It's seductive and alluring, the tiny bottle is adorable and I think makes a really nice touch to any night out bag - you don't have to worry about lugging around a full sized bottle and can stay fresh all night.
Toy Boy has a woody base, floral middle and fruity top note that's dusted with spice. It's the type of scent I'd gladly wear myself or heavily suggest my partner wear.
There's such a wide range of scents that it was inevitable that some wouldn't be to my tastes but it's a really good way to smell a few that you otherwise would've missed. You can sign up to get the calendar here.
