Almost 20 years after the iconic teen comedy Mean Girls hit our screens, a reunion has finally happened, thanks to Walmart. The retail giant unveiled their new Black Friday advert featuring three original cast members - Lindsay Lohan (Cady Heron), Amanda Seyfried (Karen Smith), and Lacey Chabert (Gretchen Wieners).

The advert shows Cady as a guidance counsellor at North Shore High School, Gretchen trying to be a 'cool mum' to her daughter, and Karen still sort of working as a weather forecaster. However, Rachel McAdams, who played Regina George, was noticeably missing.

Fans were disappointed that the A-list actress didn't appear in the ad. A source told Page Six: "They were all offered it. But the three of them loved being together for their reunion. They had a great time talking about being moms, and it was definitely a loss not having Rachel there."

In addition to Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert, the commercial also featured Daniel Franzese, who played Cady's BFF Damien Leigh, and her fellow mathlete Kevin Gnapoor, played by Rajiv Surendra. And after the shocking revelations about Coach Carr, the sex education teacher, in the Burn Book, it is revealed he has been replaced by none other than rapper Missy Elliot.

While Rachel chose not to appear in the commercial, the Notebook actress has previously shared her fond memories and enthusiasm about the iconic film. Speaking to Bustle earlier this year, the mom-of-two shared that she would love to be a part of the upcoming, musical film adaptation of Mean Girls, rumored to be hitting theatres in January 2024, but doesn't think it will be possible. She told the publication: "I don't see a way to shoehorn us in. If Tina [Fey] can figure it out, I'm there, for sure."

Discussing the commercial with People magazine, Lohan, 37, said: "It was so nice being back together after all these years. It was great catching up with everyone." While Chabert, 41, said: "It was wonderful to spend the day with Amanda and Lindsay and it was so much fun getting to reminisce and be together again."
