BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg gives update after missing Sunday show for four weeks
Laura Kuenssberg will be back presenting her flagship Sunday morning politics show at the weekend after a four-week gap.
The host hasn't appeared on her Sunday Morning With Laura Kuenssberg show since last month, with Victoria Derbyshire stepping in to cover her. In an update she wrote: "Looking forward to being back on #bbclaurak this Sunday - thank you very much for all the kind messages in the last few weeks, and to @vicderbyshire for holding the fort!"
Ms Kuenssberg interviewed Rishi Sunak for the Tory Party conference weekend on October 1 but was absent for an interview with Keir Starmer the following week. This weekend she will have plenty of material to challenge politicians on, with the Covid Inquiry unearthing huge failings in No10 in the early days of the pandemic.
After the first absence, it was reported she was missing due to "personal reasons." At the start of October, it was announced her father Nick Kuenssberg had died aged 80. He was a prominent business figure in Scotland.
Ms Derbyshire also took over her presenting role on the weekend editions of the Newscast podcast. On Sunday, Ms Derybshire interviewed Science Secretary Michelle Donelan. She grilled her on the Israel-Gaza war and artificial intelligence.

During the Conservative Party conference a few weeks ago, Ms Derbyshire roasted Ms Donelan in a Newsnight interview. The minister was taken to task after using her keynote speech to claim: “We are the party of facts.” Ms Derbyshire played her a clip showing three Cabinet ministers making outlandish statements not based in fact."
Ms Kuenssberg launched her Sunday programme last September after she stepped down as the BBC's Political Editor. The BBC One slot was previously hosted by Andrew Marr.
