Former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Lembit Opik says Nigel Farage will win show if he signs up.

59-year-old Nigel is one of the names circulating that could be entering the 2022 series. Lembit took part in the show back in 2010 and is putting his odds on Nigel to be crowned this year's King of the Jungle if he does take part in the gruelling jungle show.

The ex-Lib Dem MP said the former UKIP leader is a "natural" for the popular programme, with it being less challenging than dealing with people in Westminster. Nigel has hinted that he has been approached to take part, with big sums of money being mentioned.

Lembit told The Daily Star: "He is a natural for the jungle. He's about the only person to survive the political jungle without significant injury. He'll find the bugs far less aggressive than his opponents in Westminster. I think he'll win."

Nigel appeared on GB News on Monday night where he said he would made a "definitive answer" in the next 48 hours on whether he would fly to Australia. He said he has been offered "substantial sums" by ITV and that he is temped by the big bucks.

He said: "I will tell you why – you have got about 10 million young people every night who watch that programme. These are people that may not watch the news or read the newspapers. But they still care about their country. Young people's futures have been blighted and they are looking for solutions.

"So in my mind, if I was to do it, I would be able to connect with that audience, because believe you me they all watch I'm A Celebrity. There are downsides to doing it as well. I haven't absolutely made my mind up – but I am in talks contractually and there will be a definitive answer within the next 48 hours."

Exact figures of money for Nigel's appearance have not been disclosed but it's rumoured he could pocket up to £1m. The Daily Mail reported that an ITV insider said: "It was certainly a first, a former I'm A Celeb winner brokering a deal for another contestant.

"Nigel has been offered the chance to go to the jungle several times but Toff has made it happen this time. Everyone involved in the deal is thrilled. It is most definitely a goodie."

Nigel said that it isn't the first time he has been asked to go on the programme, having being asked "several" times in the past. Speaking on his GB News show last year, he said: "I have been approached several times by I'm a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out of Here! and I've always ruled it out.

"I've never thought it would be a good thing to do. I thought it's all rather humiliating, frankly. But I suppose you can never ever say never."
