Dana became the latest contestant to leave The Great British Bake Off.

She departed the popular Channel 4 programme after Tuesday night's tricky technical challenge during Botanical Week. "I'm just thinking of all the fun I've had, and that's what I'm going to be remembering," she said after her exit.

The 25-year-old database administrator from Essex, whose passion for baking began at 16-years-old, shed a tear after host Alison Hammond announced she was leaving the show. Dana had applied for Bake Off for four years, so when she finally got the call she was "completely shocked".

Josh was crowned star baker during this week's instalment. It follows an explosive double elimination last week during Pastry Week. Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood challenged the bakers to produce their best pies and finest tarts. For the technical round, the amateur cooks were asked to create a complex dauphinoise pithivier with very few guidelines. The showstopper task was to make a decorative sweet pie display, while savoury picnic pies was on the do-to list for the signature segment of the show.

Last week's episode of The Great British Bake Off saw Rowan Claughton and Nicky Laceby eliminated from the competition, after both parties failed to outperform the other contestants with their pastry-making skills. The decision to do a double axing came after Tasha returned home due to falling ill during the technical challenge two weeks ago and was subsequently unable to participate in the showstopper round.

The judges decided not to eliminate anyone, and to instead vote off two people in last week's episode. Nicky, 52, did particularly poorly in the technical, finishing last with her attempt at the difficult dauphinoise. Rowan, 21, also struggled this week, after his showstopper '‘Gran's Garden Trio’ was slammed as 'clumsy' by Paul Hollywood.

Fans of the show were quick to share their reactions to Nicky and Rowan's departure, with many taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to debrief on the judges' decision. "Actually gutted about rowan being eliminated this week," one viewer wrote, leading another to comment, "Me too, really liked him!"

Bake Off's official Twitter account also commented on the double elimination, writing, "It’s always sad to see one baker leave the Tent let alone two, but such is the nature of the contest." Nicky didn't hold back her emotion after being voted off alongside Rowan, despite being admittedly prepared to be sent packing. "I knew my time had come to an end after such a disastrous few days but even still my heart sank and I had to hold back the tears," the pet therapy volunteer said.

"I had such a wonderfully happy time during my time in the tent. What made it slightly easier when leaving was I didn’t leave alone and my lovely bakers gave me the biggest hugs which meant more than anything to me." Rowan echoed these sentiments, admitting that his elimination has been the lowest point of the competition so far. "Saying goodbye is the worst part about this," he said. "Not the absolute roast I got at the showstopper."
