EA Sports seems to have confirmed it will be giving out a free Erling Haaland player item to all EA FC 24 players in Ultimate Team, but there's a catch.

Since FIFA 21, EA Sports has released free players in Ultimate Team as an incentive to buy the game, with an 86-rated David Beckham being released in FIFA 21 to celebrate the Englishman being added to the game as an Icon. The last selection of free players released was in FIFA 23 when EA released 11 World Cup History Makers into Ultimate Team, including Virgil van Dijk and Kylian Mbappe.

Each player received a pack in the FUT Store containing one of these items for free, and now, it looks like every Ultimate Team player in EA FC 24 will be receiving a free Haaland player item. Haaland is the official cover star of EA FC 24, and it seems EA will be sending out a free version of the Manchester City striker to everyone, but not just yet.

How to get Erling Haaland for free in EA FC 24 Ultimate Team

Reliable leaker @FutSheriff has shared an image on Twitter showing what seems to be a message shown in the EA FC 24 Ultimate Team menus, claiming that players can receive a free Haaland player item just by playing EA FC 24 Ultimate Team before Wednesday, November 1. The free Haaland item is not his 91-rated gold rare card though, but instead a special version that's rated just 87 overall.

The 87-rated Haaland has a dynamic image with a pale-coloured card design, and the item is seemingly permanent, meaning he can be kept for good, rather than a loan item. There is a slight catch though, with the in-game message seemingly confirming that the Haaland item will be playable from December 10, 2023. And, it seems you can claim it just by playing Ultimate Team before November 1.

At the end of the day, we can't complain. It's a free 87-rated version of one of the best players in EA FC 24 Ultimate Team. But by the time EA sends out the free Haaland item, the power curve will more than likely be better than the stats on the 87-rated card, making him unusable for a large selection of players.

It won't be surprising if a lot of players use the 87-rated card as some free fodder for an SBC, a bit similar to what players did with the 86-rated Beckham card in FIFA 21.
