With the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign available to play in early access later this week, here's how to preload it on PC, Xbox and PS5 ahead of the launch.

Modern Warfare 3 is the direct sequel to 2022's Modern Warfare 2, following Activision's successful reboot of the iconic Modern Warfare sub-series back in 2019, which also introduced the battle royale title Warzone as a post-launch update in 2020. Although the latest AAA Call of Duty release has a worldwide launch date of November 10, players who pre-ordered a digital version of the game on PC, PlayStation and Xbox can jump into Modern Warfare 3 campaign early access over a week before this date.

Here's how you can preload the Modern Warfare 3 early access campaign on PS5, Xbox and PC, so you can jump straight in at release.

As per Activision's recent blog post, PS5 and Xbox players can preload the Modern Warfare 3 early access campaign from 5pm GMT / 1pm EDT / 10am PDT on Wednesday, November 1, giving you a 24-hour headstart before campaign early access releases.

For PC players, those using either Battle.net or Steam on PC will be able to preload the Modern Warfare 3 campaign from 5pm GMT / 1pm EDT / 10am PDT on Wednesday, November 1.

The Modern Warfare 3 campaign file size comes in at just over 50GB on PS5, which is almost double the size of Modern Warfare 2's campaign file size. However, it's important to note that if you haven't installed Call of Duty HQ previously – which you won't have done if you're new to Call of Duty – you're download size will be around 140GB instead. Ouch.

But, if you played the Modern Warfare 3 beta earlier this month, you'll already have Call of Duty HQ installed.

There's still time to grab your Modern Warfare 3 pre-order if you haven't already, and if you pre-order a digital version, not only will you be able to get campaign early access, but any digital version will be cross-gen. This means that you'll get the PS4 and PS5 versions if you pre-order the game on PlayStation, and the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions if you pre-order on Xbox.
