A pair of fun loving mums managed to squeeze in a 24-hour birthday trip to Ibiza and still made it back in time for the school run.

Michelle Tocchini and her friend Tanya McElligott, both 38, jetted off for a midweek night out after dropping their kids at school. They landed on the White Isle at 7pm, partied until 5am for Michelle's birthday, then sunbathed until their flight home at 5pm. Despite getting home around 11:30pm, both beautician Michelle and hairdresser Tanya were up bright and early to take their children to school the following day.

The entire trip, including flights and accommodation on the Spanish island, cost them just £81 each. Michelle, a single mum-of-two, said: "Our time was so limited, without much childcare, so it worked really well. It was just like going to London for a big night out - but we would have spent more money there without even leaving the UK. I do like doing things spontaneously but my hands are tied more because of my children. It was amazing and I'd definitely recommend parents give it a go - we're already planning our next trip to Amsterdam!"

Michelle and Tanya didn't think they could celebrate Michelle's 38th birthday with a holiday because of their busy lives working and parenting. However, after reading about a similar 24-hour trip, they decided to check out flights and found themselves on a plane a week later.

They travelled light, with just one set of clothes and a handbag each, carrying their evening outfits. Michelle shared: "I didn't even bring shampoo or washing stuff. I just brought a toothbrush and some trainers, my evening outfit, and underwear for the next day."

After a quick bus ride to Stansted and a two-and-a-half-hour flight, they arrived in Ibiza. Michelle's parents looked after her sons, aged 11 and seven, while she was away. The mum continued: "We stayed out late because we knew we weren't leaving until the evening, so we had the whole next day to relax by the pool. Our hotel also served unlimited breakfast until 11:30am which was great."

They enjoyed the 26-degree sun in Ibiza until 5pm before heading back to the airport. Michelle returned home at 11.30pm, ready to drop off the children and return to work the next morning as usual.

Single mum Michelle had a successful trip and is already planning her next adventure. She is far from the only mum who has been having it large in Ibiza. Tanya Jones recently told the Mirror how she first went to the Balearic Island in the late 90s and found herself immediately hooked on its heady mix of debauchery, pounding beats and beautiful beaches. The Salford eyebrow technician loves nothing more than finding herself on the middle of the dancefloor of one of Ibiza's super clubs, lost in the revelry.

Tanya, who has a 19-year-old daughter, told the Mirror: "I went to Ibiza in the late 90s and early 2000s. I loved the music and the clubbing scene back then and I still do now. I think many people around a similar age feel the same, so why not carry on enjoying it. Besides, the older you get the less you worry about what other people think. You can’t beat being in the middle of a crowded dance floor, lost in the music."

"You still get the classic DJs from the 90s playing in the clubs, so why shouldn’t clubbers my age be out there too - showing younger generations how it’s done. Ibiza is one of those places where people don’t judge, they’re just there to have a good time, no matter what age.”

Tanya - who says her favourite song is You don’t know me by Energy 52: Café Del Mar / Arman van Helden - feels energised by her time clubbing. "I never feel old. Wait until you get to my age, and you won’t either," she added.

According to travel agents On the Beach, a sudden end-of-season jump in bookings to the White Isle has been fuelled by older ravers. Interest in the Balearics party playground rose by 30% in July, with over-50s making up a significant chunk of those snatching up the season finale rave tickets.
