Rebecca Loos has opened up about how she explained her 'affair' with David Beckham to her two young children - and was told they wished it had been Lionel Messi!

The couple's former PA said she told Magnus, 14 and 11-year-old Liam about what happened 20 years ago and asked their permission before speaking out on the recent Beckham documentary, which brought things back to the surface again. She appeared on Good Morning Britain to talk it through with Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley.

On the ITV show, she claimed that the superstar has never actually denied the fling - just called it 'ludicrous'. Rebecca also slammed David for refused to accept responsibility for what she claims from 2003 as she spoke as well about family life and the impact the bombshell claims have had on her.

She said: "I have two boys, 11 and 14. I did tell them about the documentary and what had been said and how it made mummy feel." Kate then asked: "Had you already told them about what went on 20 years ago?" Rebecca replied: "Yes, they already know. I said I felt it was unfair that I was being bullied and because of that I was going to do an interview and asked them how they feel."

"My youngest son is a bit like me and said 'good for you mummy, yes I would say something too' and my eldest son said 'I don't really know anything about Beckham. It's not like it's Messi mummy, had it been Messi...." At that point the trio broke out in laughter and Richard went on to tell her how much she has changed and how relaxed she is now.

The 46 year old told the presenters: "I had left it all behind me, I'd much rather not be here and talk about this again. I had moved on with my life. But the angle bothered me, how he had played the narrative and how mis-leading it is - and how it made me look the bad person.

"By David not acknowledging responsibly, he is giving a message that it is OK to behave like this. I think that is the wrong message to give - my message is that you make mistakes, own up to them and move on. He says he is happily married, but there are many men who are happily married and have affairs."

In 2003, the England football legend was hit with claims he had an affair with the couple's assistant, who alleged she had a relationship with him while he was playing for Real Madrid. David, who was hit with allegations of affairs with other women, described the claims as "ludicrous" at the time but has hardly addressed them in the past nearly two decades.

Rebecca had previously described David as an "amazing lover" and that they "couldn’t keep their hands off each other". She said in the past: "We were just locked into each other all night conversation-wise, other people noticed… we just connected. I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong… people were aware and they weren’t very happy. He knows how to please."

In their new Netflix documentary, Beckham, director Fisher Stevens asked David: "Multiple tabloid stories broke, and how did you deal with that?" as he replied: "There were some horrible stories that were difficult to deal with. It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage."

He then asked Posh if that was the hardest time in their marriage. She said: "100 per cent. It was the hardest period for us. Because it felt like the world was against us. And here's the thing; we were against each other, if I'm being completely honest. You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else.

"But we were together. We were connected. We had each other. But when we were in Spain, it didn't really feel that we had each other either. And that's sad. I can't even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me."

David also admitted in the documentary: "When I first moved to Spain it was difficult because I've been part of a club and a family for my whole career from the age of 15 to I was 27 years old. I get sold overnight. The next minute I am in a city. I don't speak the language. More importantly, I didn't have my family."
