Evil mass shooter's ex-wife & son were 'in hiding' with guns ‘under lock & key’

The ex-wife and teenage son of evil killer Robert Card were in hiding earlier this week while the manhunt for the mass shooter continued.

Card, an army reservist, was found dead on Friday night with a gunshot wound that appeared to be self-inflicted, after he went on the run following his massacre at a bowling alley and bar. The 40-year-old was the father of an 18-year-old son Colby, whose mother, Cara Lamb, he married in 2005. According to court records, the two divorced in 2007.

Following Wednesday's rampage, Ms Lamb and her son were said to be in hiding as a manhunt to find Card continued for two days. The shooting left 18 dead and injured at least 13. According to the NYPost, Ms Lamb was not at her home on Friday and a neighbour commented that he had not seen her.

Earlier this week it was reported that Card could be trying to find an ex girlfriend. His sister told investigators that she believed an ex-girlfriend is who he could possibly have been looking for when he shot up the Sparetime Recreation bowling alley and Schemengees Bar and Grille. However it isn't known whether the "ex" being referred to was Ms Lamb or another person.

Court records from Ms Lamb and Card's divorce have also been revealed, showing that they jointly filed for divorce citing irreconcilable difference in 2007. An amendment was made to the divorce in 2013 which included a requirement to keep all guns under "lock and key" in each of the party's homes when they are not being used. Card was ordered to pay $74 dollars a week in child support in 2013.

On Thursday night, investigators reportedly discovered a note at Card's home in Bowdoin which aided them with their investigations. It is understood Card's son was the intended recipient. The note reportedly "gave information and instruction to others about where things could be found and disposed of." Law enforcement sources told CNN that the contents of the note suggested that it was "found or read that Card would no longer be alive."

A motive for the killings has not yet been disclosed but officials have said they are looking into Card's mental health. It is feared Card targeted his deaf friends after growing paranoid that they were talking about him behind his back. Maine Gov Janet Mills said at a press conference this morning: "“Like many people, I’m breathing a sigh of relief knowing that Robert Card is no longer a threat anymore. With this search concluded, I know that law enforcement continues to fully investigate all the facts so we can bring what closure we can to the victims and their families.”

He was found dead in Maine on Friday night in Lisbon, just miles from the site where he shot up. Senator Angus King confirmed that Card's body was found near a recycling centre where he used to work before reportedly being fired. He was wearing the same clothes he was wearing when he slaughtered 18 people on Wednesday. It's not far from where his car was abandoned shortly after the bloody mass shooting on Wednesday. It remains unclear how long he has been dead.

All 18 victims have now been identified by law enforcement. They have been listed as: Ronald Morin, 55; Peyton Brewer Ross, 40; Joshua Seal, 35; Brian MacFarlane, 41; Joseph Lawrence Walker, 57; Arthur Fred Strout, 42; Maxx Hathaway, 35; Stephen Vozella, 45; Thomas Ryan Conrad, 34; Michael R. Deslauriers II, 51; Jason Adam Walker 51; Tricia Asselin, 53; William Young, 44; Aaron Young, 14; Robert Violette, 76 and Lucille Violette, 73; William Frank Brackett, 44; and Keith Macneir, 64.
