The delightful blend of crisp cool air and cosy fireside nights is hard to beat.

However, adding a taste of adventure through a visit to Lidl’s wine aisle and some special picks from their latest Autumn Wine Tour could make it even more enjoyable.

We've enlisted wine expert Richard Bampfield to take us on a tasting journey, from Austria to Australia, with his carefully curated list of limited editions and familiar favourites. Cheers!

This wine boasts a classic, Merlot-based blend but without the heaviness usually associated with a Bordeaux, making it a perfect complement to food. Try it with entrecôte or lamb chops, as the characteristically dry finish means it pairs well with meat dishes.

White: Deluxe Australian Pinot Grigio - £6.99

Australian producers have been making great Pinot Grigio for many years now, inspired by other countries' success with the grape. Typically crisp and dry, this refreshing white is versatile enough to be enjoyed with food or on its own.

An iconic wine style, often cited as the king of Italian wines, Amarone suits those who enjoy full-bodied, intense reds. Made from partially dried grapes, the bold aromas of baked plum provide extra richness and body on the palate.
