Every Everton transfer in FFP saga as club face record-breaking points deduction
Everton are in a worrying position, facing a 12-point deduction in the Premier League for allegedly breaking Financial Fair Play rules.
The club recorded financial losses of £304million over a three-year period, which is well over the £105m amount allowed by the Premier League. Their case is currently being heard by an independent commission, but their proud record of never being relegated from the Premier League could come under threat. Sean Dyche’s side would drop from 16th on seven points to 20th on -5 points were the punishment to be dished out now.
In a statement back in March, Everton said they “strongly contest the allegation of non-compliance” and promised to “robustly defend its position” to the commission. Whether they are found guilty or cleared of the charges, there can be no doubt that Everton have wasted a lot of money in the transfer market in recent years.
Under the ownership of Farhad Moshiri, the club have frittered away millions on ineffective players. Their reported losses of £44.7m in 2022, £121.3m in 2021 and £139.9m in 2020 are not all down to transfer business, with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic significant, but a look over their moves in the past three years shows a muddled approach.

Made just seven appearances after signing a three-year contract. The 22-year-old Frenchman left for Eintracht Frankfurt in September after loan spells at Saint-Etienne , Standard Liege and Cardiff.
James Rodriguez

It was fun while it lasted. Rodriguez joined Carlo Ancelotti’s side and shone bright for a short period, contributing six goals and nine assists in 26 games.
