The detective who snared M25 killer Kenneth Noye believes police should investigate a rainforest scheme the crook has a link to.

Retired Det Supt Nick Biddiss spoke out after the Mirror yesterday revealed the Brink’s-Mat villain lives at an address which is also the headquarters of Amazon Forest People, set up by his son to protect Brazil’s jungles. The scheme is being sued for £800,000 amid accusations of land grabbing. And it was suspended last month for a review.

Mr Biddiss said: “This should be investigated by the

, bearing in mind it’s an international issue.” Noye’s eldest son Kevin Tremain said he was “founder” of the offshore company behind the scheme. The 50-year-old, of West Malling, Kent, described himself as a consultant after the Mirror put a number of questions to him.

The Amazon scheme has potentially earned around £40million, according to a report by the World Rainforest Movement charity. Mr Tremain denies Noye has anything to do with the firm or project, which sells carbon credits to people who want to make up for pollution they create. Each represents a ton of carbon that will not be released into the atmosphere because a section of the forest has been preserved.

Local Brazilian villagers claim they knew nothing of the scheme, which campaigners say uses public land. Organisations that were customers of the scheme include Premier League giants Liverpool, Boeing and Samsung. Construction company Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd was another.

It said: “We welcome such investigations that help to bring much needed transparency to net zero claims.” Boeing added: “We were not aware of the allegations prior to the media reports. Our team is evaluating the situation and determining next steps.” Noye, 76, was known to live at the address which is also Amazon Forest People’s HQ in Sevenoaks, Kent, in 2022 and again this year.

His other son Brett Tremain, 47, was also involved in marketing the carbon credits. Noye was involved in the 1983 £26million Brink’s-Mat gold heist. He stabbed Stephen Cameron, 21, twice in a 1996 road rage attack on the M25 slipway at Swanley, Kent, in front of the victim’s fiancee Danielle Cable, 17.

Noye went on the run. Mr Biddiss led the investigation into the murder and nailed him two years later in Spain. Danielle bravely gave evidence against Noye that led to him being jailed for life at the Old Bailey. He was freed four years ago.
