Man City stars suffer "horrendous" fashion blunder before Champions League clash
Manchester City's latest choice of arrival outfit for their Champions League clash with Young Boys has been given a thumbs down.
The European champions have regularly swapped the usual club tracksuits for alternative clothing options as part of a deal with fashion label Dsquared2.
In recent years players have been seen arriving for matches wearing blazers and rolled-up jeans, while other fashion faux pas' have included double denim, and bomber jackets with a shirt and tie.
Pep Guardiola's side take on Young Boys in Group G on Wednesday night and this time the likes of Erling Haaland and Kyle Walker stepped off their team bus wearing cardigans with their names and shirt numbers printed on the back.
The cardigans also featured 'Manchester City' printed on the arm - in the style of a captain's armband - and were accompanied by a white shirt and light denim jeans. Guardiola meanwhile opted for a black blazer with a grey roll neck jumper.
Pep Guardiola went back on his word after blocking last-ditch Barcelona transferAnd TNT pundits Joe Cole and Joleon Lescott were left in stitches when they were asked for their thoughts on the outfits by presenter Reshmin Chowdhury.
"Unacceptable! The gaffer got out first and he looks like the Milk Tray Man, he looks brilliant. But I don't care how many trebles you win, you have got to sort your gear out. It is horrendous," Cole said.
His comments were backed up by former City defender Lescott, who added: "It is questionable, especially when it doesn't look good on Jack Grealish!"
City sit top of their group after two wins from two as they bid to defend the title they won last season. Guardiola's side beat Leipzig last time out after seeing off Red Star Belgrade in their opener.
The City boss made a number of changes for the encounter with Grealish, Rico Lewis, Ruben Dias, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes all coming into the side that beat Brighton on Saturday.
Guardiola had criticised the artificial pitch that will be used in Berne after Manchester United were beaten by Young Boys during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tenure.
He said: "We are not used to it. Any team that plays here is not used to it. It suits the Swiss league and in the Champions League the teams that come here have to adapt. We will not be the first in this situation but we have to use it as a benefit.”
