Teen Mom star Jenelle Evans ' husband David Eason has been charged with child abuse involving his 14-year-old stepson Jace.

David's recent charge follows a child neglect investigation that began earlier this month involving both Jenelle and her husband. The investigation began after the 31-year-old former reality star reported that her son was missing, marking the third time Jace was reported to have run away from home. In September, Jace was said to have snuck out a window at his parents' home and ran off into the woods.

After leaving home, Jace told officers that his stepfather David had assaulted him. At the time, Jace was seen with bruises on his neck and arms. Child Protective Services and police allegedly obtained footage from a Ring doorbell that seemed to show an altercation that involved Jace.

Jenelle, who shares Jace with ex-partner Andrew Lewis, was able to gain custody over her son Jace from her mother Barbara Evans in March of 2023. Her mother originally had custody over her son when he was younger as Janelle at the time was unable to support him due to her own personal and legal troubles. Jenelle's mother reportedly accused David of abusing Jace this year to which Jenelle fired back on social media defending her husband.

Jenelle took to X, formerly Twitter, in early October writing: "This isn’t about David whether you want to blame him or not. My mom says a lot of untrue things lately to everyone about me but wanted me to have custody? Imagine what you don’t hear from my side," she continued: "I feel now she’s using police to falsely report just trying to make us look bad as a family. There are multiple people involved in this situation and they know the truth, and so does God.”

The former MTV star added in her social media post that her mother has not tried to contact her or her three children since July of this year. The circumstances surrounding David's recent charges are still unknown, but it has been reported to be a misdemeanor.

Jenelle is famous for her appearance in the hit reality television show Teen Mom 2. The reality television series followed the cast of the second season of 16 and Pregnant as they navigated parenthood at at a young age. Jenelle was later fired from the show in May of 2019 after David had allegedly beat and shot Janelle's dog Nugget. David was never charged for that incident.
