Britney Spears slammed for criticising Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake

Britney Spears has come under fire from fans after admitting she felt hurt when her former friend Christina Aguilera teamed up with her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.

Christina and Justin joined forces to pose for a now-iconic Rolling Stone cover in 2003, just one year after the NSYNC singer had split from Britney. In the story, Christina revealed she wished Britney and Justin would reunite.

Writing in her new memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney said she was upset seeing the cover which she said showed Justin looking at Christina "with sexy eyes". She added: "In that story, she said she thought Justin and I should get back together, which was just confusing, given how negative she'd been elsewhere.

"Even if they weren't trying to be cruel, it felt like they were just pouring salt in the wound. Why was it so easy for everyone to forget that I was a human being," Britney wrote. She admitted she felt "vulnerable" after seeing the cover.

While many people have been sympathetic toward Britney, others have slammed her for taking it personally. Some fans pointed out how Justin and Christina were simply trying to promote The Justified & Stripped Tour, which they teamed up for in 2003.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan said: "They were touring together so they did a promo photoshop and #Xtina is an old friend of #JustinTimberlake #BritneySpears needs to chill out." Another added: "Britney the world doesn't revolve around you, wake up!"

However, other people were firmly on Britney's side. "Christina and Justin were nasty and bullies; Britney always took the higher road," one person said. Another wrote: "It was a 100% about Britney, let’s be for real."

"It was about her. Stop defending these 2," a third fan insisted. Someone else added: "I knew back then they did this to hurt her."
