Britney Spears 'clueless' Kevin Federline had a baby on the way when they met

Britney Spears has addressed allegations that she was a homewrecker when embarking upon her relationship with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The chart-topping star denies having had any knowledge that dancer Kevin was expecting a baby with Shar Jackson when they began dating in 2004. Writing in her new memoir The Woman In Me Britney admits that she was totally unaware Kevin was a father and that she found out through a friend.

She wrote: “Kevin had a ‘bad boy’ image. Still, I had no idea when we met that he had a toddler, nor that his ex-girlfriend was eight months pregnant with his second baby. I was clueless."

Britney then detailed how at first she couldn't believe it, but Kevin came clean about it after she confronted him on the issue. Kevin had been engaged to Shar prior to meeting Britney. The couple already shared daughter, Kori, who was born in 2002. Shar then gave birth to their son, Kaleb, just after he began dating Britney.

At the time of Britney and Kevin moving in together Shar even came forward and claimed they were still together when he move in. But the former Moesha actress claimed she and Kevin had remained really good friends despite the drama between them.

Britney went on to marry Kevin later that year before welcoming their two sons Sean Preston and Jayden. The couple then got divorced in 2007. Her memoir sees Britney detail suffering with postpartum depression as she became embroiled in a bitter custody battle.

She writes: “Kevin tried to convince everyone that I was completely out of control. He started to say I shouldn’t have my kids anymore - at all.” Britney was subsequently subjected to two involuntary psychiatric hospitalisations before being placed under her infamous conservatorship in 2008 which saw her regain custody of Preston and Jayden.

Britney has had a strained relationship with her sons in recent years, however, Page Six reported that she recently reconnected with the two boys prior to them moving to Hawaii with their father back in August. Kevin and his current wife Victoria Prince share two daughters, Jordan and Peyton.
