Britney Spears claims Christina 'poured salt in the wound' after Justin split

Britney Spears says she felt like her former frenemy and fellow pop star Christina Aguilera was "pouring salt in the wound" after her heart-breaking split from Justin Timberlake.

The Toxic singer has shared the details of her tumultuous life in the spotlight in her tell-all memoir, The Woman in Me, released on October 24th. In the highly anticipated book, Britney told readers about her shock abortion after she fell pregnant with ex Justin's baby and revealed that he had cheated on her with an unnamed celebrity, but also that she cheated on him with Wade Robson.

Britney admitted that following her brutal split from Justin, which he did with a two-word text message, the Genie in a Bottle singer graced the cover of Rolling Stone with him and urged Britney to get back with Justin during the cover interview. Britney writes: "They were together on the cover of Rolling Stone, him in a black tank top, looking at her with sexy eyes, her looking out at the camera, wearing a lace-up black shirt.

Britney felt hurt by Christina

"In that story, she said she thought Justin and I should get back together, which was just confusing, given how negative she’d been elsewhere," she continued. "Seeing people I’d known so intimately talk about me that way in the press stung.

"Even if they weren’t trying to be cruel, it felt like they were just pouring salt in the wound. Why was it so easy for everyone to forget that I was a human being—vulnerable enough that these headlines could leave a bruise?"

The Overprotected singer, who has long been reported as having a rivalry with Christina, seemingly at least at one point enjoyed a fairly amicable relationship with the star if her memoir is anything to go by.

In The Woman in Me, Britney claims to recall a time where she organised a meet up with the Dirrty singer poolside in Las Vegas after she wound up with having "most of the same dancers as Christina" on one of her tours.

Britney, who has known Christina since they starred on The Mickey Mouse Club together as children, claims that when she organised to meet up with Christina, she found that the singer was "pretty messed up". Therefore, Britney says she just enjoyed the pool and the jacuzzi with the dancers instead.
