Max George and Maisie Smith have defended their decision to jet off on several luxury holidays by claiming they are homeless.

The couple who met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020 often treat their social media followers to insights into their lavish getaways. Since January 2023, Maisie has documented eight holidays including visits to the likes of Dubai, Istanbul, Abu Dhabi and Morocco.

However, their reason for travelling so much is very surprising as the couple, who often set tongues wagging, said their jet-setting ways is down to them not having a place to call home in the UK. Max, 35, and Maisie, 22, previously resided in his apartment in Manchester but as their relationship continues to blossom, the pair are looking towards their future and a new home together. But this has come with its setbacks, they explained.

The couple explained that they are currently "homeless" as the work on their home continues. Speaking to OK! Magazine, former EastEnders actress Maisie said: "We haven't got a kitchen and the sofa is thick with dust, so we're literally at his mum's house." She went on to add: "That's why we go on holiday so much because we haven't got a kitchen at home. We're like, 'We'll go to Dubai' just so we can have something to eat."

But The Wanted singer Max claims that when their home is complete, there's a strong chance they won't even reside in it. "No doubt, as soon as it's done, Maisie will be at the theatre and we'll have to come back down to London, so we'll never live in it," he told the outlet. Although their relationship has sparked discussions over their 13-year age gap, Max was keen to shut down critics as he said their love life is going strong so he believes they're "doing alright".

Although they met while filming the dance show, Max and Maisie went official with their relationship shortly after the arena tour. They often share loved-up selfies with one another on their respective social media handles, with the couple even having each other's names in their Instagram bios.

Max even offered a proposal on The Chase: Celebrity Special, leaving host Bradley Walsh completely speechless. The TV star claimed he had no idea that they were dating. As he started to realise, he asked: "So when's the big day?", as Max reached into his pocket for the fake proposal.

Although no engagement has been announced, Maisie claims her future is with Max and branded him "The One". Prior to meeting, Maisie once had a crush on Max during his boyband days. She told The Sun: "Sometimes we'll be in a shop and The Wanted will come on and that's a reminder. Or I'll see a picture of the band and think of how that used to be a poster on my bedroom wall!

"When I was little, I was only allowed two songs on my phone and one of them was All Time Low by The Wanted – I paid 99p for that! It's such a funny thing and we talk about it all the time."
