Q Radio Breakfast host, Declan Wilson, has announced his immediate departure from the station in an emotional Facebook post.

He thanked his listeners and colleagues, saying he would be taking some time to be the "best husband and father I can be". In a heartfelt social media statement, Declan said: "I can't believe I am typing this but I have decided to leave Q Radio," and "Most of all and most importantly I want to thank YOU! My Listeners.

"We have been through it all, good times, bad times, global pandemics and more. You have shown me more love and support than I could possibly ever imagine and for that, I am forever in your debt. It breaks my heart that I'll not be part of your morning routines anymore."

Wilson reflected on his journey at the station and expressed his gratitude, saying he was "humbled" for every moment. "Throughout my time on Q Radio I have presented Saturday Breakfast, Weekday Afternoons, Saturday Mid Morning and The Q Radio Breakfast Show. I have also married the love of my life and have had a beautiful daughter too," he shared.

Never did I ever think in my wildest dreams I would follow in the footsteps of some of the finest broadcasters in Northern Ireland but I'm so humbled and thankful for every moment."

"I am going to take some time out to be the best husband and father I can be to my girls. Lots of love and best wishes, Declan." Fans rushed to the comment section to share their sadness at his departure. One person said: "Very Sad. News, always helped brighten up the mornings. Wishing you nothing but the very best.
