Jarrod Bowen joined two Premier League greats in the record books on Sunday on an otherwise disappointing day for West Ham.

The Hammers were beaten 4-1 by an impressive Aston Villa, with Bowen's second half goal proving scant consolation. By that point a Douglas Luiz brace had put the hosts in control, and following Bowen's riposte, Ollie Watkins and Leon Bailey struck to complete the rout.

It was Bowen's sixth goal of the season, but more significantly, his deflected shot represented the fifth Premier League away game in which he's scored. He'd previously been on target in trips to Bournemouth, Brighton, Luton, and Liverpool.

And it's put him in elite company, with Thierry Henry and Mohamed Salah the only Premier League players in history to match his feat. The Frenchman managed it during the 2000/01 title winning season with Arsenal, while Salah's run came in the 2021/22 campaign with Liverpool.

But despite his 260 league goals, Alan Shearer was never able to put such a record together, whilst the likes of Harry Kane, Sergio Aguero, and Wayne Rooney also failed to achieve such a feat. And a glance at West Ham's upcoming fixtures suggests Bowen has an ideal opportunity to soon stand alone.

Bowen has already cemented cult hero status amongst West Ham fans, following his last minute winner in the Europa Conference League final in May. The 26-year-old was also named player of the match following his 90th minute goal against Fiorentina in Prague.

And his form has been noted by Gareth Southgate. Bowen missed out on selection for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but returned to the squad for this month's games with Australia and Italy.

And the ex-Hull man started against Socceroos, making his first appearance at Wembley. He's still waiting for his first international goal though having won five caps.
