It’s been 11 years since the titular writer starred in a game of his own, and the waiting is now (almost) finally over.

After an already great year of AAA single-player releases like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Resident Evil 4 and most recently Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, 2023 isn’t yet done treating players who enjoy getting invested in a good story. The candidate this time around is none other than Alan Wake 2, the long-awaited sequel to Remedy’s original cult classic for the Xbox 360 concerning a writer fighting off the nightmares of his mind. Fortunately, the Alan Wake 2 release time is now just around the corner.

Alan Wake 2 officially launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC this Friday, October 27, serving as perfect survival horror fare for anyone who wants to dip into a spooky, adult-themed game just in time for Halloween. Picking up 13 years after the events of the original, Alan Wake 2 sees the titular author trapped within a dilapidated version of New York that acts as a metaphor for his own twisted mind. All hope isn’t lost, however, as new playable character Saga Anderson is charged with unravelling her own mystery in the Pacific Northwest in order to pull him out.

The Alan Wake 2 release time for each platform has now been confirmed by developer Remedy. So, if you've already secured your Alan Wake 2 pre-order and can’t wait to see how Alan’s found himself in his current predicament, we’ve got you covered.

Interestingly for a AAA game in 2023, Alan Wake 2 won’t be receiving a physical disc release and is in fact digital-only. This means that there is much less likelihood of the game leaking prior to its official release time or release date. It’s also releasing as a current-gen console exclusive, meaning that Xbox One and PS4 owners will be missing out on this one unless they upgrade.
