Cher has once again vehemently denied claims that she had her son Elijah Blue Allman kidnapped in an apparent intervention following his alleged struggles with substance abuse.

The Believe singer, 77, said in an interview with The New York Post on Friday that the claims were completely untrue. She explained: "I didn’t do it, and if I did it, I wouldn’t say I did it."

Cher added: "You never stop being a mum - you go to the end, you go to the mattresses when you’re trying to save your children. But I didn’t do it. And if I did it, I wouldn’t care to tell you."

The Burlesque star's unequivocal response comes after a report surfaced last month that claimed the music icon hired four men in November 2022 to kidnap Elijah from a New York City hotel room in a staged intervention.

Allman's estranged wife Marieangela King included the allegations in divorce papers filed in December last year. King also alleged in the documents that one of the four men told her that Cher was the one who hired him.

In the documents, King reportedly claimed: "I am currently unaware of my husband's wellbeing or whereabouts. I am very concerned and worried about him. I understand his family’s efforts to make sure he is well, and I want what is best for my husband."

Speaking to People a couple of weeks ago, Cher denied the allegations once more, saying: "That rumour is not true." She did however open up on her son's apparent struggles with addiction.

She said: "I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t. I’m a mother. This is my job — one way or another, to try to help my children."

Cher then went on to detail the extreme lengths she'd go to to protect her family. She said: "You do anything for your children. Whenever you can help them, you just do it because that’s what being a mother is. But it’s joy, even with heartache — mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and you love them, and you try to be there for them."

Elijah, 47, is Cher's youngest son, whom she welcomed with Greg Allman in 1976. She also has son Chaz Bono, 54, whom she shared with the late Sonny Bono.
