Colorado land high rated quarterback to make Shedeur Sanders Draft future clear

The Colorado Buffaloes have secured their future quarterback for when Shedeur Sanders heads to the NFL, but not until 2025.

On Friday, the Buffaloes reached a commitment with Antwann Hill Jr., who is listed as the No. 4 quarterback in ESPN's draft class for 2025. Hill is out of Houston County High School, and also had offers from the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and Florida State.

Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has hinted about what the future may mean for his son, Shedeur, in the process. Sanders wants Hill to learn from his son in the quarterback position, meaning his entry into the NFL could be delayed.

Coach Sanders is yet to reveal whether his son will declare for the NFL Draft at the end of this season, but their latest move may have revealed their plans. Upon committing to the Buffaloes, Hill told ESPN: "[The coaches] really think I really fit their scheme, what they got going on up there.

"Coach [Sean] Lewis, Coach Prime, they really want me to take over once Shedeur [Sanders] leaves, so I mean, I'd be the next guy up that will be a highly ranked quarterback to get that position. And I feel like I'd be good learning from Shedeur.

"Just taking notes from him, taking his leadership skills and putting them into mine. Really, they were saying, be ready to take over once Shedeur leaves, because I'm the next man up."

The Buffaloes are 4-3 this season, although they're 1-2 in a tough Pac-12 division. Sanders has impressed in Colorado and is considered one of the hottest draft prospects, but he's still in his junior year.

Back in September, Sanders was asked about the immediate future of his son when attending a Denver Broncos game and said that he: "Isn't going anywhere." He was then asked again on USA Today, and spoke more openly. "I’m always gonna do what’s best for my kids," Sanders said. "Let’s believe that. So whatever that entails, we’re gonna make the decision that suits them."

Shedeur threw 70 touchdowns in two seasons with Jackson State, but in his first season with the Buffaloes he's already thrown 21 touchdowns in the first seven weeks. USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams remains the projected No. 1 pick, but Sanders isn't far behind.
