Kerry Katona initially dismissed a fan's concern who claimed to have spotted a lump on the star through an Instagram picture.

The singer and media personality previously explained that while showering, she discovered the mass in her armpit which knocked her sick. Kerry, 43, had been on a photoshoot just weeks prior to the scare and revealed she had been sharing pictures with her followers in an array of poses.

However, one eagle-eyed follower noticed something wasn't right with the former Atomic Kitten songstress and instantly took to the comment section to raise their concerns. Kerry thought nothing of the response and initially dismissed it.

Speaking to the Mirror, she said: "I had a lump under my left arm and this is why I regret messing with my body so much. I remember doing a photoshoot and someone commented in the comments, I ignored it, I was in the shower and I was shaving.

"I thought 'That's a lot bigger', that's when your life flashes before your eyes. Mine turned out to be a swollen lymph node because I've got lymphedema." Kerry discovered her lump around the same time her late friend, Sarah Harding, went public with her breast cancer diagnosis in August 2020.

The late Girls Aloud singer announced she had been diagnosed with breast cancer which sadly advanced to "other parts" of her body. Just seven months later, in March 2021, Sarah announced she had received a terminal prognosis and didn't expect to see another Christmas.

Tragically, the hitmaker died on September 5, 2021, aged 39. At the time, Kerry said: "My life flashed before my eyes and that's when my health anxiety really kicked in. I had the realisation that we're not all immortal and that your health is not always something you can control."

In a joint interview, Kerry revealed her older sister Lynsey recently found a lump and was left stunned to discover she would have to wait three weeks for a mammogram. She said: "Our Lynsey said 'Look I've found a lump', I rang her up and she was a mess, I've never seen her cry like that." Kerry instantly called Pall Mall Medical in order to get her sibling an appointment pleaded with staff and offered to do "anything" to get her seen.

Speaking to the media for the first time, Lynsey said: "I never normally get quite emotional but I think, you just don't know how lucky you are and how grateful you are. When I spoke to Kerry, I was just panicking and I was getting emotional, I thought why am I getting emotional? It could be nothing."

She went on to explain that she discovered the mass in her breast in the shower, almost ten years after having a lump removed from her opposite breast. "It was the size of a sprout, I went sick, I didn't even wash the stuff off, I got straight out the shower and to my partner, 'Ring the GP on my phone'," she explained.

Lynsey saw her regular GP who informed her that it could be a tumour and offered a referral in three weeks' time. Due to NHS backlogs, this would have meant she would still be waiting to be seen today. When her little sister phoned Pall Mall, Lynsey was seen straight away and was then seen by the same doctor, Mr Krishnan, at an NHS practice the next morning to have the three cysts drained. "Getting a mammogram and waiting around, it was just a couple of hours," she said.

Pall Mall is offering a huge discount for women to have mammograms during Breast Cancer Awareness month in order to help people catch symptoms early. It's said that breast cancer is the most common cancer across the world, according to Breast Cancer UK. The organisation estimates that there are over 150 cases every day. Now, it's believed that 18% of breast cancer is in women under the age of 50.
