BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent visibly emotional and says she can't carry on show

Sally Nugent was overcome with emotion during Tuesday's instalment of BBC Breakfast, admitting that she didn't think she could carry on with her presenting duties.

The BBC Breakfast star, 51, was visibly emotional after watching a moving video, which shed a light on Guide Dog charity volunteers that train assistance dogs and are forced to say goodbye once they find a suitable new owner.

Sally, alongside her co-star Jon Kay were raising awareness amid a current shortage of Guide Dog volunteers.

The Guide Dog charity has recently began a major recruitment drive to keep numbers up in order to train puppies in and to aid blind people who are facing a two-year wait to get assistance dogs.

After the video played, the cameras cut back to the presenters as viewers saw Sally overcome with emotion as she held her hands to her face before exclaiming, 'wow'.

Sally was visibly emotional and clearly needed a moment to regain composure as her co-star asked if she was okay.

The much-loved presenter replied by claiming that she didn't think she could carry on with her hosting duties after watching the emotional video.

Sally jokingly replied: "No. I don't think I can carry on. What an incredible thing to do, though, to be able to work with a dog like that and then hand it on for the next stage of its job."

To which Jon replied: "I'm amazed there's a shortage, I'd have thought there'd be people queuing around the block, but I guess it's a huge commitment, isn't it?"

Following Sally's display of emotions, BBC Breakfast viewers took to Twitter to discuss the topic.

"I would 100% volunteer if I could. I'm going to tell all my friends to do it instead. I reacted the same way as Sally," one tweeted.

"Sally is not able for seeing those little doggos without any volunteers," another added.

Meanwhile, a third chimed: "Awh Jon is such a lovely friend to Sally asking her if she's okay."
