Frozen star Samantha Barks gives birth to baby boy and shares unique name

Frozen star Samantha Barks has welcomed her first child with her husband Alex Stoll. The Les Misérables actress, 33, announced that she has welcomed a baby boy as she shared a black and white picture of her newborn's hand on Instagram.

Samantha proudly revealed her newborn son's gorgeous name, as she penned: "Welcome Rafael Richard Barks-Stoll, born on 16th October. My heart could burst with happiness."

The West End star, who plays Elsa in the London production of Frozen, was inundated with congratulations messages and well wishes from famous friends and fans alike after sharing her wonderful baby news.

The actress, who married fellow stage stage Alex last year, also shared a sweet black and white photo of her newborn son's tiny hand in hers as she celebrated the milestone moment.

Samantha and Alex chose not to announce their baby joy until August, when the stage star was already almost seven months pregnant. Taking to her Instagram at the time, Samantha posted a sweet picture announcing her news. Inside a small Moses basket sat a wooden board, which read: "We have been keeping a tiny little secret. Baby Barks-Stoll due October 2023." It sat next to a small lamb teddy bear and a pair of little shoes. In her caption, Samantha added: "We are so excited to meet you little one."

At the time, celebrity pals rushed to the comments to congratulate the couple, as Steph McKeon who plays Anna in the Frozen musical, wrote: "So happy for you. You’re gonna be such amazing parents. Mini-us best friends in the making." "Yeaaaaaah!!!!!!! Xxxx," wrote Jessie Ware while Sabrina Weckerlin said: "Congratulations Sam how magical."

Blogger Danielle Webb added: "6 months gone and still smashing the leading queen role…. Baby is lucky to have such a powerhouse Mum! Congratulations!!!" The couple met whilst performing in the Chicago and Broadway productions of Pretty Woman, in which she played the lead role of Vivian.

Samantha and Alex got engaged in 2021 when the fairly private couple shared Alex had proposed on a countryside walk in the snow. She wrote: "Like Beyoncé... but with an F."

Her caption was finished by a picture of a ring. Alex commented below: "If you like it... then you should put a ring on it." Samantha and Alex married in a stunning ceremony in Tuscany. The actress shared stunning pictures of the big day in celebration of their one-year anniversary back in July.

Samantha continued to play the role of Elsa until August 23 when Jenna Lee James took over. Samantha plans to return to the ice queen role next year. She wrote: "I have so much love for this amazing woman, @jennaleejames thank you for your kindness, love and support and I can’t wait to see your Elsa."
