Strictly's Karen Hauer opens up on 'ups and downs' amid split from husband
Strictly Come Dancing's Karen Hauer admitted you have "ups and downs" on the BBC show after being in Sunday's dreaded dance-off amid news that her marriage to Jordan Wyn-Jones has come to an end.
The professional dancer, 41, found herself in the dreaded dance-off on Sunday night with celebrity dance partner Eddie Kadi despite hitting the heights with the first 10 of the series last week. The duo found themselves in the dreaded dance-off this week after failing to impress the judges with their American Smooth to Sex Bomb by Tom Jones.
The pair went up against Jody Cundy and his pro partner Jowita Przystal, who performed their Salsa to Samba de Janeiro by Bellini again. After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts as they unanimously saved Eddie and Karen, resulting in Jody and Jowita sadly leaving the competition.
Speaking on Tuesday's It Takes Two, Karen said of whether she was "gutted" to be in the dance-off: "No because it's a learning experience. You have your ups and downs, this is what the show is about. Sometimes you're at the top, sometimes you're at the bottom. Sometimes you're in the middle, sometimes you have no idea where you are! It's okay and it's grounding, that means you have to keep working hard at all times. It can be taken away from you very quickly!"
Karen went on to address the judges' "brutal" feedback on Saturday, where both Shirley Ballas and Craig Revel Horwood called it a "complete dance disaster in hold". Asked if their comments were "fair", Karen said: "No... it's not that they were not fair or unfair... he has improved." Karen went on to point out that Eddie is a "complete beginner" and perfecting dances "take time".
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourIt comes as Karen, who was previously married to former Strictly pro Kevin Clifton, married Jordan in June 2022 but was seen without her wedding ring when she showed up at the Pride of Britain Awards last weekend. A source has since told The Mirror: "Karen and Jordan have had a tough time in the past few months and decided to split. It's obviously very sad for both of them, but there's no ill-will whatsoever. The split is amicable, and they wish each other the best."
Karen bravely took to the dance floor on Saturday night after the news went public, performing the American Smooth with Eddie but the pair failed to ignite a fire with the judges this time around, being given 24 out of 40. This resulted in the duo being in the dreaded dance-off on Sunday night, where they were saved by the judges.
Fans were quick to share an outpouring of support for "total pro" Karen, taking to social media, one person said: "Karen is a total pro, isn’t she? Respect to that woman! #Strictly", a different account put: "Eddie & Karen in the dance off!?…What!? #Strictly", while another follower wrote: "Disappointed Eddie and Karen are in the bottom two!"
