Households in a south London neighbourhood earn more than anywhere else in England and Wales, figures show.

The average household in Clapham Common earned £108,100 in the financial year ending 2020, according to new data from the Office for National Statistics. It is more than three times the national average of £32,000. The City of London had the next highest household income at £101,800 a year. It is followed by Tower Hill & Wapping South (£96,600), Wandsworth Common (£94,000) and Springfield (£93,800), all of which are in London.

Grimsby East Marsh & Port has the lowest average household income of any neighbourhood in the country. Households there earn just £22,200 on average each year, almost five times less than in Clapham Common. Bridlington West in East Yorkshire has the next lowest average at £23,800, followed by Middlesbrough Central (£24,900), Batley Central (£25,100), Bridlington Hilderthorpe (£25,200), and Holme Wood in Bradford (£25,400).

According to the data, there is also a North/South divide when it comes to neighbourhood incomes. A total of 45 of the lowest-earning neighbourhoods are in the North. Yorkshire & the Humber accounts for 30 of them, the North West for eight and the North East for seven. Another four are in the East Midlands and one is in the West Midlands with none in the South.

Bradford has 11 areas in the bottom 50, a higher number than any other local authority in the country. Leeds, meanwhile, has six and Sheffield has five. When it comes to the 50 highest earning neighbourhoods, 37 are in London, 12 in the South East and one in the East of England.

The figures show that in Merseyside, households in Calderstones are the ones earning the most - with the average household in the neighbourhood earning £62,000 in the financial year ending 2020. Meanwhile, Birkenhead Central had the lowest household income in our region at an average of £27,700 a year.

Overall, in the North East, excluding Teesside, households in Darras Hall, Stamfordham & Heddon topped the list, with average earnings of £60,100. Meanwhile, Blyth Cowpen had the lowest household income in the region at an average of £25,900 a year.

In Yorkshire, it is households in Bents Green & Millhouses that earn the most. The average household in the neighbourhood earned £75,000 in the financial year ending 2020, according to the ONS. Batley Central had the lowest household income in the region at an average of £25,100 a year.

The data also revealed that households in Harborne East earn more than anywhere else in Birmingham - with an average income of £64,000. Sparkbrook North had the lowest household income in the region at an average of £27,300 a year.

The highest-earning neighbourhood in Wales was found to be Heath in Cardiff, where the average earnings in the financial year ending 2020 were £58,300. The lowest household income in the region was Caerau, with £29,100 per year.

Households in Pen-y-ffordd & Higher Kinnerton in Flintshire earn more than anywhere else in North Wales. The average household in the neighbourhood earned £48,100 in the financial year ending 2020, compared to an average of £29,400 in Rhyl North in Denbighshire.

Households in Lady Bay in Rushcliffe earn more than anywhere else in Nottinghamshire, according to the ONS data. The average household in the neighbourhood earned £59,400 during the time taken into consideration, while St Ann's West in Nottingham had the lowest household income in the region at an average of £27,100 a year.

Henleaze was found to be the highest-earning neighbourhood in Bristol, with an average householding earning £75,100 - compared to £32,900 a year in Hartcliffe. Households in St Leonard's in Exeter earn more than anywhere else in Devon, with the average household in the neighbourhood earning £57,200, while City Centre, Barbican & Sutton Harbour in Plymouth had the lowest household income in our region at an average of £32,100 a year.

According to the ONS figures, households in Alwoodley earn more than anywhere else in Leeds. The average household in the neighbourhood earned £63,800 in the financial year ending 2020, while Cross Flats Park & Garnets and Harehills North have the joint lowest household income in the city at an average of £27,500 a year.

The highest-earning neighbourhoods in Lancashire are Broughton & Wychnor in Preston, with the average household making £56,100, while Central Blackpool had the lowest household income in the region at an average of £25,600 a year. Households in Kirk Ella in East Riding of Yorkshire earn more than anywhere else in the region, the data showed. In the neighbourhood, the average household earned £59,600 - compared to £23,800 in Bridlington West.

In Greater Manchester, households in Didsbury Village earned £67,100 in the financial year ending 2020, compared to an average of £26,400 a year in Central Bolton. Households in Trentham East earn more than anywhere else in Stoke-on-Trent, with the average household earning £52,100. Meanwhile, Shelton & Joiner's Square had the lowest household income in the city at an average of £29,700 a year.

The data also showed that households in Knighton in Leicester earn more than anywhere else in Leicestershire - with an average of £58,600, compared to £29,900 in St Matthews & Highfields North in Leicester.

Households in one area of Grimsby were found to earn less than anywhere else in England and Wales. The average household in the Grimsby East Marsh & Port neighbourhood earned £22,200 in the financial year ending 2020, according to new data from the ONS. That is the lowest income of any area in the country and is much lower than the national average of £32,000 per household. It is also almost five times less than the nation's highest-earning neighbourhood, Clapham Common, where households earned £108,100 a year. Meanwhile, Laceby, Healing & Stallingborough had the region's highest earners. Households in the area earned £44,700 in the financial year ending 2020.

In Teesside, households in Ingleby Barwick West in Stockton-on-Tees topped the list with the average one making £59,700. This was much higher than the average household in Middlesbrough Central, which made £24,900 in the same period.

In Derbyshire, households in Duffield, Quarndon & Kirk Langley in Amber Valley earned an averageof £53,600 in the financial year ending 2020 - compared to £29,900 in Cotmanhay in Erewash. And households in Kenilworth East in Warwick earn more than anywhere else in Coventry and Warwickshire - £59,500. In the region, the lowest average income, £29,000, was recorded in Hillfields in Coventry.

Households in Shenfield & Hutton Mount in Brentwood earn more than anywhere else in Essex, the ONS data said. The average household in the neighbourhood earned £72,000 in the financial year ending 2020, while the lowest-earning neighbourhood, Jaywick & St Osyth in Tendring, only recorded an average income of £28,700.

The highest-earning neighbourhood in Surrey is Oxshott & Stoke D'Abernon in Elmbridge, with an average household earning £93,500 in the financial year ending 2020. Meanwhile, Farnham Town in Waverley had the lowest household income in the region at an average of £49,900 in the same financial year.

In Kent, Sevenoaks West & Chevening topped the list with the average household earning £89,100. On the other end of the scale was Sheerness West in Swale, with an average of £30,700. According to the data, households in Saltash Latchbrook & St Stephens earn more than anywhere else in Cornwall - with an average of £51,800 - compared to £34,500 in Penzance Quay.

Mannamead & Hartley topped the list of highest-earning households in Plymouth, with an average of £55,800. Meanwhile, City Centre, Barbican & Sutton Harbour had the lowest household income in the region at an average of £32,100 in the financial year ending 2020.

In Gloucestershire, the average household in Charlton Park in Cheltenham made £61,900 compared to an average of £36,000 in Barton, Gloucester. Bloomfield in Bath and North East Somerset topped the Somerset list with an average of £65,000 in the financial year - compared to Weston Bournville in North Somerset whose average was £34,100.

According to the ONS, households in Addenbrooke's & Queen Edith's in Cambridge earn more than anywhere else in Cambridgeshire. The average household in the neighbourhood earned £68,900 in the financial year ending 2020, while Dogsthorpe in Peterborough had the lowest household income in the region at an average of £36,200.

The highest-earning neighbourhoods in Lincolnshire were found in Ruskington West & Cranwell in North Kesteven, where the average household earned £48,000 - compared to an average of £25,900 in Mablethorpe, East Lindsey. The data also showed that households in Caversham Heights in Reading earn more than anywhere else in Berkshire. The average household in the neighbourhood earned £90,500 in the financial year ending 2020. Meanwhile, Hungerford in West Berkshire had the lowest household income in the region at an average of £46,500.

In Sussex,Maidenbower East & Worth in Crawley topped the list with an average of £76,900 - compared to just £31,400 in Central St Leonards in Hastings. And in Hertfordshire, households in Moor Park & Batchworth in Three Rivers were declared the highest-earning ones with an average of £83,500 - compared to £41,500 in Letchworth Grange, North Hertfordshire.

According to the data, households in Valley Park in Test Valley earn more than anywhere else in Hampshire. The average household in the neighbourhood earned £76,600 compared to the lowest households in Shanklin Central & Lake in Isle of Wight, which made £30,900 in the financial year ending 2020.

In Wiltshire, the top-earning households can be found in Larkhill, Shrewton & Bulford Camp where the average is £69,700. Meanwhile, Penhill in Swindon had the lowest household income in our region at an average of £35,400 in the financial year ending 2020.

Households in Littledown in Bournemouth earn more than anywhere else in Dorset - with an average of £58,700. This is compared to an average of £37,100 in West Howe in Bournemouth, and Weymouth Town, Melcombe Regis & Rodwell in Weymouth and Portland.

The highest-earning people in Staffordshire live in Weeping Cross & Brocton in Stafford, where the average is £55,700. This is much higher than the lower end of the scale, recorded in Shelton & Joiner's Square in Stoke-on-Trent, where the average is £29,700.

Wootton & Collingtree in Northampton topped the Northamptonshire list with an average of £60,500 in the financial year ending 2020. Meanwhile, Queensway in Wellingborough had the lowest household income in the region at an average of £33,400.

In Cheshire, the average households in Appleton in Warrington earned £64,400 - compared to £29,800 in Widnes Riverside in Halton. According to the figures, households in Thorpe St Andrew South & Dussindale in Broadland earn more than anywhere else in Norfolk. The average household in the neighbourhood earned £54,900 in the financial year ending 2020, while the lowest household income was £31,400 - and was recorded in Yarmouth Parade in Great Yarmouth.

The ONS said households in Moreton Hall in St Edmundsbury earn more than anywhere else in Suffolk.The average household in the neighbourhood earned £55,900 - compared to £30,300 in Lowestoft Central in Waveney. The highest-earning households in Buckinghamshire are in Gerrards Cross in South Bucks - with the average household earning £81,900. Stacey Bushes & Fullers Slade in Milton Keynes had the lowest household income in the region at an average of £41,000.

And households in Bromham & Biddenham in Bedford earn more than anywhere else in Bedfordshire - earning £60,900 in the financial year ending 2020. This is almost double the average of £33,300 in Bury Park in Luton.

According to the ONS, households in North Central Oxford earn more than anywhere else in Oxfordshire. The average household in the neighbourhood earned £86,400 in the financial year ending 2020, while the lowest household income - £47,300 - can be found in Chipping Norton in West Oxfordshire.

Households in Priorslee in Telford and Wrekin earn more than anywhere else in Shropshire., the ONS said. The average household in the neighbourhood earned £54,000, compared to an average of £32,200 in Woodside in Telford and Wrekin. And Walsall South East in Walsall came at the top of the Black Country list, with an average household earning £55,700, while the lowest income - £30,400 - was recorded Bloxwich South in Walsall.

It comes after the ONS revealed that the richest neighbourhoods in the UK are all located in London, with the areas of Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham topping the list. According to the statistics, the total gross disposable household income (GDHI) per head in the UK fell by 0.2% when compared with 2019 - in England, it fell by 0.2% and in Northern Ireland by 0.5%, while Wales and Scotland reported increases of 0.9% and 0.3%, respectively.

The ONS said London had the highest GDHI per person, with those living in the capital having £29,890 available to spend or save on average. Northern Ireland had the lowest at £17,301, which compares with a UK average of £21,440, the ONS data show.
