Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto could be the next Nou Camp hero to reunite with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami as David Beckham's revolution continues to take shape.

The 31-year-old utility man has spent his whole career with the La Liga giants but he could be the latest Blaugrana mainstay to make the switch stateside. According to Mundo Deportivo, the 11-time Spain international is weighing up a move to MLS when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Roberto inherited the captain's armband at his boyhood club following the departure of stalwart Sergio Busquets to Inter Miami in the summer. He had been the natural successor to the midfield maestro, especially with fellow icon Jordi Alba having soon followed his teammate to Vice City.

The report contends the versatile star has already asked his former teammates Messi, Busquets and Alba about life in America as he considers his options. Roberto is also thought to have consulted ex-Barcelona players Oriol Rosell, Ilie Sanchez and Andreu Fontas, who now ply their trade in the US.

Despite being named captain by manager Xavi Hernandez earlier this year, the Catalonian ace has not been a regular in the Barcelona team this term. The two-time Champions League victor has featured on four occasions in La Liga so far this season, making a further two outings in all competitions.

That said, his level of experience would make him an enviable asset for any prospective suitors, with the Spaniard having turned out 355 times for Barcelona in all. Alongside his resounding success in Europe with the club, he has also picked up seven La Liga titles in a glittering club career.

One major advantage for Roberto when it comes to a potential move to the US is his grasp of English, which is thought to be strong. In addition to this, the pacey full-back would likely find a move to the country an easy transition, as he regularly visits America with wife Coral Simanovich.

Of course, his former Barcelona teammates have settled well into life in Miami since they arrived to considerable fanfare during the summer. On the pitch, the Herons' former Camp Nou trio contributed towards a glorious run in the Leagues Cup, as they secured the club's first-ever trophy.

Off the pitch, the Blaugrana heroes have also been spotted socialising together with their respective wives as they enjoy what South Beach has to offer. On occasion, they have frequented some of Miami's most exclusive restaurants together, alongside club co-owner Beckham.

Their season would end in disappointment, however, as the Floridan outfit failed to make the post-season in MLS after missing out on qualification. Despite the team's league form improving after Messi and co arrived, their early-season form under Phil Neville left them with a mountain to climb.
