Unlikely Coronation Street star 'steals the show' during Super Soap Week

Coronation Street fans reckon that despite all the drama of Super Soap Week, one 'legend' character outshone everyone else – and it wasn't Stephen Reid or Jenny Connor.

Viewers knew Stephen's time was up, but there were plenty of surprises before the broke businessman left the cobbles for good. Stephen turned against his own family, attacking Sarah Barlow and threatening Jenny Connor as he begged for his passport.

The showdown moved onto the street in front of the Rovers Return, where Stephen's shocked family watched. With his passport back, Stephen seemed ready to let Jenny go thanks to his mum Audrey Roberts' intervention. But he was run over by Peter Barlow just after freeing Jenny and was confirmed dead before the episode ended.

In a shocking twist, just as viewers were still reeling from Stephen's death, with his mum Audrey by his side, another surprise was revealed. Tim, who had been attacked by Stephen earlier in the week and left for dead in the boot of his taxi, opened his eyes. However, he's now stuck in the woods with the only person who knew his location now gone.

Fans were left stunned by Todd Boyce's departure as Stephen, wondering what it means for Peter and Tim. Meanwhile, others were full of praise for Jack P Shepherd, known for playing Corrie's David Platt, for his comedic moments during the serious scenes.

A second commented: "@jackpshepherd88 stolen the show tonight! "Why does it have to be my car?!" Some banging comedy from David Platt tonight. #corrie does comedy gold MORE DAVID."

Meanwhile, another wrote: "You were brilliant tonight, Jack. Comedy gold as always." A fourth tweeted: "#Corrie Forget the rest of the family, David Platt was the MVP of this week Best moment being him complaining about Stephen wanting his car." As another added: "David Platt is a legend. He's one-liners had me #corrie".

Fans of the ITV soap were left reeling at the dramatic climax with many praying that Stephen isn't actually dead and actor Todd might make a shock return in a Christmas storyline. However, despite their pleas actor Ohio-born Todd appears to be ready to move on from his murderous role as he teased his new venture. The actor is set to take on a new challenge as he swaps the Weatherfield cobbles for the stage.
