Strictly star shows off painful injury as she returns to day job after elimination

Nikita Kanda has shared an injury update as she returns to work after being eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC breakfast show host was voted off the glitzy reality series on Sunday night, after only managing a score of 21 with her Clueless-inspired routine with partner Gorka Marquez.

Judges Shirley, Motsi, Anton and Craig all chose to save Zara McDermott and Graziano di Prima in the Bottom Two, after praised the Love Islander for having better technique that Nikita.

Speaking about her experience on Strictly: It Takes Two on Monday, Nikita admitted that she was "so sad" to have been axed from the competition already. The 28-year-old also revealed that she had sustained an injury prior to her final dance, which likely had an impact on the performance.

"I even hurt my foot the day before but we powered through," she told hosts... I've got a bandage on now so it's not very glamorous underneath all the sparkle!"

Nikita has already returned to work since leaving Strictly, taking to Instagram to share snippets from her day job as a presenter of Asian Network Breakfast at BBC Radio

"Big for your boot just makes sense doesn't it," she captioned the video of her in the studio on Friday, which shows her right foot strapped into a large walker boot. "Nothing was gonna stop me from being on air."

Just hours before posting the update, she announced she'd been prescribed the boot by sharing a photo of it with the caption, "Hello, new friend that I didn't want... None of you trolls can tell me that I didn't dance my a*** off on strictly now...this was the result."

It remains unknown exactly what damage has been done to the Birmingham native's foot, but by the looks of it, it could take some time to heal properly.

Despite being the second star to be eliminated from the show, Nikita has had nothing but glowing words to say about her Strictly journey.

"What a whirlwind. Processing the end of my time on strictly. It's so hard to put into words. I've had the most magical time," she said after her elimination. "I went out there on Saturday with an injured foot because that's how much I wanted to keep going. I didn't want to give up. I always wanted to give it 100%."

Nikita, who had no dance experience whatsoever prior to the show, also insisted that she "tried my absolutely hardest" after being voted off the show.
