Former One Direction star Liam Payne was seen exploring Northern Ireland's tourist hotspots weeks after he took a break from the limelight following the cancellation of his South American tour.

The What Makes You Beautiful singer had a health scare with a severe kidney infection while holidaying in Italy with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy. And now, the singer was spotted at the famous Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, filming for a new travel show around Ireland.

The National Trust at Carrick-a-Rede shared their excitement on social media about welcoming the pop star and wished him a pleasant stay in Northern Ireland. "Welcome and Service Assistant, Josh, was over the moon yesterday when he spotted One Direction star, Liam Payne!," they posted on Facebook.

They continued: "Josh was more than happy to share his knowledge of the site, and answer any questions Liam had (all in exchange for a pic of course!) We hope Liam had a fantastic visit to Carrick-a-Rede, and that he enjoys the rest of his time in Northern Ireland."

The One Direction star has also been seen in Strandhill Co Sligo where fans were quick to snap selfies with the singer as he visited the seaside resort. The details of the show that he's currently filming are still under wraps, but sharp-eyed fans have noticed Liam zipping around in a camper van.

Liam was raced to A&E last month after celebrating his and Kate's one-year anniversary. Medical professionals are thought to have kept the singer in for "several days" for "emergency treatment". He is yet to speak about his health issue but Kate did address his recovery, saying: "He's feeling a lot better. He's in good hands."

He has been on the mend but it was a difficult time for the star and his family after his latest health concern in September. A source at the time told The Sun: "Liam is in a bad way but he’s in the best place he can be and finally doctors will be able to get to the bottom of what is going on. Naturally, he is gutted that his and Kate’s trip to Lake Como has been ruined but at least she was there to help him when he fell ill."
