William and Kate share favourite emojis as future king gives risque response
Prince William and Kate Middleton left people in hysterics after they revealed their favourite emojis - with their choices extremely different from each other.
The Cambridges shared their texting habits with royal fans as they showed their innocent and cheeky sides. BBC Radio 1 presenters Vick Hope and Jordan North asked the couple what emojis they mainly use. William quickly backtracked his response after he revealed that he would have chosen an aubergine, which can have a sexual connotation.
The station shared the couple's answers during an Instagram video posted on Thursday. William joked: “Is this a clean thing or is this a family one?," before revealing what his answer would be if he had to be “grown-up” about his response.

It would’ve been the aubergine,” he laughed. “But I’m saying now, because I’ve got to be a little grown up, it’s the one with the eyes that go up and down and the mouths out. What’s that one?" The couple were questioned as part of the Access All Apps feature. In response, Kate offered a more wholesome answer and pointed out her top two emojis. “Mine’s probably got to be the heart with then the crying emoji. The sort of like hysterical laughing when things have gone wrong,” she explained.
Elsewhere, Prince William, who has appeared on BBC Radio 1 several times in the past, spoke about the love of the station, having listened to it since he was “tiny”, and jokingly started ‘beef’ with breakfast show host Greg James by calling him an “average DJ”, reports OK! After posting the video, fans of BBC Radio 1 were quick to comment on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ choice of emojis. “Never imagined our future King to be sending out [aubergine emoji] that’s for sure!,” wrote one. “Love the aubergine hahaha,” another added. As for Kate’s choice of emojis, one user commented that her choice of a heart emoji and crying laughing face emoji was a “classic mum response”.

The pair’s light-hearted appearance on the radio comes after the Princess of Wales visited Nottingham on Tuesday, 10 October to mark Mental Health Awareness Day by meeting students and staff from Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham. As part of the trip, Kate attended a fresher's fair-style exhibition to learn more about how mental health was supported at both universities as part of her week’s work to commemorate World Mental Health Day. They also visited Factory Works in Birmingham and spoke to young people as they participated in workshops which focused on emotions, relationships and community action.
