Arsenal fell short of winning their first Premier League title since 2004 last season, finishing just five points behind eventual champions Manchester City.

However, they strengthened their squad significantly over the summer with several new signings and have enjoyed a strong start to the new campaign. They are one of just two teams still unbeaten in the league and headed into the international break after securing their first league win over City since 2015.

A goal from Gabriel Martinelli earned Mikel Arteta's side a 1-0 win and, with the Gunners hoping to win the league this season, they are contemplating making some moves in the January transfer window. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Arsenal news.

Toney latest

Brentford striker Ivan Toney is Arsenal's No1 January transfer target, but Arsenal will have to get creative to pull off the deal.

Mirror Football understands that Brentford want at least £60million for Toney, who is currently serving an eight-month ban after breaching FA betting rules. As a result, Arsenal will need to make a big sale in order to balance their books meaning it will not be easy to pull off the deal.

The Gunners are also interested in signing a new winger to provide cover for Bukayo Saka, who missed their 1-0 win over City with an injury. However, a deal for Wolves winger Pedro Neto seems unlikely.

Jorginho exit

Barcelona have been linked with a move for Arsenal midfielder Jorginho and it is not the first time the La Liga club have been interested in signing him.

According to ESPN, Jorginho is one of several midfielders Barcelona are looking at ahead of the January transfer window. Liverpool's Thiago Alcantara and Real Betis' Guido Rodriguez are also being considered.

Jorginho's agent previously met former Barcelona Football Director Mateu Alemany in November last year to discuss a move to Spain, according to Sport, but the deal never materialised and the Italy international ended up swapping Chelsea for Arsenal two months later.

Wilshere eyes MLS job

According to The Athletic, Jack Wilshere has held talks with Colorado Rapids about potentially becoming the MLS club's new manager.

Wilshere is currently in charge of Arsenal's Under-18 side, having taken on the role shortly after announcing his retirement last year, and he has impressed. The Gunners won the FA Youth Cup in his debut campaign and the Rapids are said to be interested in making him the second-youngest head coach in MLS history.

Like Arsenal, the Rapids are also owned by Stan Kroenke and the report states that they have 'made a formal approach' for Wilshere who 'impressed' in an interview with club chiefs. The Rapids sacked Robin Fraser in September and currently sit bottom of the MLS' Western Conference.
