A group of hero rail passengers banded together to rescue a dog that had fallen down the gap between the train and the platform.

Dramatic footage shows more than a dozen people lined up along the track trying to reach the dog from underneath the train. One man jumped down onto the track to locate the pooch which got lost at Glasgow Queen Street Low Level station in Glasgow, Scotland, on Monday.

While others laid across the floor with their hands held out in an effort to grab the terrified animal. Two passengers eventually managed to lift the black and white dog up onto the platform, the Daily Record reported. It then tried to run away but was quickly grabbed and comforted by members of the group.

ScotRail Customer Operations Director Phil Campbell also commented on the incident. "We're pleased to see that the dog was retrieved safe and well," he said.

"We take this opportunity to remind customers to keep well back from platform edges when trains are arriving and leaving the station. And to keep hold of pets, pushchairs, and other belongings when getting on and off the train."
