Netflix’s steamy 'new Fifty Shades' thriller to star Bridgerton favourite

A raunchy new thriller is coming to Netflix this weekend and its steamy scenes has seen it dubbed the next Fifty Shades of Grey.

Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor and Star Wars' Alden Ehrenreich are starring in Fair Play, which hits our screens from Friday. We get to find out everything about a young couple as they embark on an unwise workplace affair.

Needless to say people end up getting hurt, but although things quickly get racy, it begins and ends in blood. The actors play Emily and Luke, who are keeping their forbidden relationship a secret and for good reason.

The full synopsis reads: "An unexpected promotion at a cutthroat hedge fund pushes a young couple's relationship to the brink, threatening to unravel far more than their recent engagement. As the power dynamics irrevocably shift in their relationship, the couple must face the true price of success and the unnerving limits of ambition."

It marks director Chloe Domont's feature debut and she explained what we can expect from the lead characters. The film promises to unravel the "uncomfortable collision of empowerment and ego" - as well as destroy "destructive gender dynamics that pit partners against each other in a world that is transforming faster than the rules can keep up".

She said: "When I met with Alden and Phoebe for the roles, it was pretty instant that they were perfect for these characters. They’re incredibly strong versatile actors that can do anything. And also what excited me about it was that they had never done anything like this before, I love to cast against type."

Actress Phoebe said: "This film really explores how women can feel very crippled and isolated by their success and how they have to ultimately suppress a lot of their strengths to avoid the rage of a really insecure man." We've had to wait little longer here in the UK but in America, some fans have already binge-watched since it's release. If the twitter comments are anything to go by, we're in for a treat.

One watched it all within a few days and wrote: "#FairPlay is such an incredible debut from Chloe Domont. A sharp commentary on how both work and sex are inherently political. At times it feels like Revolutionary Road but at a hedge fund? Insane insane film."

Another was impressed, writing: "Finished #FairPlay and all I have to say is Phoebe Dynevor & Alden Ehrenreich are incredible. It's a great movie with an impressive message of how most of the men don't go easy while seeing their partners being more successful than them and both of them have great chemistry."
