Another great day at conference as I took part in a panel organised by the Trussell Trust on eradicating the need for food banks. Everyone should be able to buy food, I mean it’s a basic thing.

I started volunteering at my local food bank during the pandemic. I love the team who work there, they are just wonderful, caring people who want to help their local community.

The number of people needing food banks has risen dramatically in the cost of living crisis, but many people feel ashamed to ask for help.

I find it shocking and depressing that in 2023 we have families who can’t afford to feed their children.

I was so nervous, but the audience were encouraging and I think I have changed some minds on what Love Islanders are really like.

I didn’t get a seat in the main hall for Keir’s speech so I watched it on my phone nearby. I really think he is a great guy who cares about ordinary working people.
