England got their World Cup campaign back on track with a crushing victory over Bangladesh in Dharamshala.

Yorkshire opener Dawid Malan struck a superb 140 as Jos Buttler's side posted an imposing 364-9 batting first, with Joe Root contributing 82.

Reece Topley replaced Moeen Ali in the XI and justified his selection with the ball, taking 4-43 from his 10 overs as Bangladesh were bowled out for 227 inside 49 overs.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first but England made an impressive start to lay the foundations for a big total.

Jonny Bairstow scored 52 before being bowled by Shakib Al Hasan as he and Malan put on 115 for the opening partnership.

That brought Joe Root to the crease and he continued his form from the opening match, scoring 82 from just 68 deliveries to become England's has he and Malan took the game away from Bangladesh.

Brisk twenties from Buttler and Harry Brook followed, but England faltered in the last 10 overs when it looked like their total would surpass 400.

Mahedi Hasan and Shoriful Islam took four and three wickets respectively, but both were expensive as England posted their highest-ever total in a World Cup on foreign soil.

England started as well with the ball as they did with the bat, with Topley taking three early wickets up front.

He removed Tanzid Hasan, Hossain Shanto and Shakib to leave Bangladesh floundering at 26-3. Chris Woakes then took the wicket of Mehidy Hasan, but once again proved expensive in his opening spell.

Mushfiqur Rahim (51) and Towhid Hridoy (39) provided some resistance, but Sam Curran, Mark Wood, Liam Livingstone and Adil Rashid all got their names in the wicket column to secure a big victory.

Such was the margin, England now find themselves with a positive net run rate despite a heavy defeat to New Zealand in their opener, which could prove crucial later in the tournament.
