Emmerdale character returns in huge twist as mystery hostage victim exposed

Emmerdale viewers were quick to react on Monday night as legendary character Aaron Dingle, played by Danny Miller, made an explosive return to the hit ITV soap in a huge twist.

Only recently, viewers have been desperate to know who Cain Dingle and Caleb Milligan have been keeping hostage in an empty barn. This was only amplified on Friday night when a suspicious Moira Dingle decided to follow husband Cain to the empty barn, where she confronted him about his odd behaviour recently.

During the scenes, a banging could be heard coming from inside the barn and Moira went running inside to find a bolted door, where she stormed in and saw a man tied up, she then muttered: "You?", leaving fans in suspense.

And the mystery hostage victim was finally exposed on Monday night as Aaron, who was last seen in the village in October 2022 after he left seemingly for good following the death of his sister Liv Flaherty in the deadly 50th anniversary storm week.

It was revealed during the scenes that Aaron has got himself into big trouble during his time in Italy with the Mafia, as he struggled with his grief and becoming estranged with his mother Chas Dingle over her affair with Al Chapman last year. It was revealed that Moira's son, Adam Barton, had contacted Cain as he was worried about Aaron.

Soap watchers were quick to react to the shocking twist and comeback, especially as actor Danny, 32, has confirmed a permanent return to the hit ITV soap. Taking to social media, one person said: "Aaron is back yass xx #emmerdale!"

A different account put: "I did not expect it to be Aaron #Emmerdale", another follower wrote: "It’s Aaron !!!! @DannyBMiller is back!! What’s happened between Aaron and cain? #Emmerdale" while a different viewer added: "I literally couldn’t be more happy right now brilliant move from them! Hope he’s staying for a decent time."

Elsewhere, one fan said: "YAY! Aaron's back! Must admit, I didn't have that on my 2023 Bingo card #Emmerdale", a different account put: "Didn’t expect it to be Aaron #Emmerdale" with eyes emoji while another shocked soap watcher added: "Aaron's back!!! I love @DannyBMiller #Emmerdale."
