A mum who has been raving in Ibiza for over 25 years is among a growing wave of party animals rightly refusing to leave the dancefloor.

Tanya Jones first went to the Balearic Island in the late 90s and found herself immediately hooked on its heady mix of debauchery, pounding beats and beautiful beaches. The Salford eyebrow technician loves nothing more than finding herself on the middle of the dancefloor of one of Ibiza's super clubs, lost in the revelry.

Tanya, who has a 19-year-old daughter, told the Mirror: "I went to Ibiza in the late 90s and early 2000s. I loved the music and the clubbing scene back then and I still do now. I think many people around a similar age feel the same, so why not carry on enjoying it. Besides, the older you get the less you worry about what other people think. You can’t beat being in the middle of a crowded dance floor, lost in the music."

"You still get the classic DJs from the 90s playing in the clubs, so why shouldn’t clubbers my age be out there too - showing younger generations how it’s done. Ibiza is one of those places where people don’t judge, they’re just there to have a good time, no matter what age.”

Tanya - who says her favourite song is You don’t know me by Energy 52: Café Del Mar / Arman van Helden - feels energised by her time clubbing. "I never feel old. Wait until you get to my age, and you won’t either," she added.

According to travel agents On the Beach, a sudden end-of-season jump in bookings to the White Isle has been fuelled by older ravers. Interest in the Balearics party playground rose by 30% in July, with over-50s making up a significant chunk of those snatching up the season finale rave tickets.

Facebook groups such as Ibiza Clubbing for over 40s, where more than 50,000 like-minded dance floor demons share their top tips for how to have a middle-aged mad one, show that the phenomenon is not restricted to this year.

Zoe Harris, chief customer officer at On the Beach, said: “With superstar DJs including David Guetta, Idris Elba and Craig David spinning the tunes until late September, it’s the over 50s who are ‘avin it large. Forget one foot in the grave, this is about two feet in the rave and showing the Gen Zs and millennials how it’s really done. Fifty plus age group bookings to the Balearics are growing faster than the 19-50 group by 20%.

“This is the generation that was on the White Isle when it really kicked off in the 80s and 90s, and by the looks of things they’re going to party ‘til sunrise for years to come. Among the well-known faces spotted in Ibiza this summer are actress Cate Blanchett, lingerie model Caprice and soon-to-be-50 former Spice Girl, Mel C. Famous regulars include Minogue sisters Kylie and Dannii, Madonna and Naomi Campbell.
