Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was interrupted while on punditry duty as noisy fans stopped him in his tracks.

Former Manchester United defender Neville was a co-commentator for Arsenal's win against Manchester City. After the final whistle, though, he joined presenter David Jones and pundits Theo Walcott and Micah Richards in the studio to dissect the game.

Neville was addressing the momentous win for the Gunners when the interruption arrived, prompting Neville to turn his head and ask "Are you alright?". Jones then joked that Arsenal boss Arteta was the cause of the disturbance, prompting laughter from the panelists.

Arsenal's victory was their first in the league against City since Arsene Wenger was in charge at the Emirates Stadium. They left it late, with Gabriel Martinelli's shot deflecting off Nathan Ake and wrong-footing visiting goalkeeper Ederson.

Martinelli was making his first appearance for the Gunners since mid-September, when he limped off against Everton. Neville acknowledged the importance of the Brazilian and injured team-mate Bukayo Saka to the Gunners' title challenge, but recognised their defence will need to remain solid as well.

"You know what's more important than that? The two centre-backs and Rice," Neville said. "They will not win the league if they don't have the two centre-backs and Rice."

The three points sent Arsenal above Manchester City in the table, with only goals scored separating the Gunners from top-of-the-table Tottenham. "Certainly sends a message to the team, keep believing in what they are doing," manager Arteta told reporters after the game.

"They are a fantastic group of players, the way they try, the understanding, the chemistry that they have between them you sense it and you need it to beat that, today again really proud. I was proud on Wednesday when we lost the game, and I am really proud again today as well to be part of that team."

Arsenal's players will now link up with their respective international sides before returning with a London derby against Chelsea. The Gunners have won on their last three trips to Stamford Bridge, including a 1-0 victory last season.

"They were all dancing and super happy, they are now on international break," Arteta said. "The mood is always much better, they are going to have a few days off the ones who are not involved, and it sends everybody until the game against Chelsea away with the right spirit and the right emotion and it’s great so really happy."
