Charlotte Dawson gives update on poorly baby son after terrifying hospital dash
Charlotte Dawson has said her three-month-old son Jude is “doing better” after being rushed to A&E three days ago.
The tot has been diagnosed with RSV Bronchiolitis, a viral chest infection that affects babies and children under two years of age and can be easily spread by coughs and sneezes, according to the NHS.
While Jude is still in hospital and on oxygen until he is well enough to go home, Celebs Go Dating star Charlotte said she had “no idea” about the common condition until doctors told her about it.
Taking to Instagram to give fans an update, the 31-year-old daughter of the late comic Les Dawson said: “Hi darlings. I am exhausted but Jude is a bit better. Sorry there have been a million messages to go through and sorry I’ve not replied to everyone. I can’t reply, my hands are hurting as I’ve been on my phone and obviously busy with Jude.”
Reacting to the response she’d had since she had shared Jude’s diagnosis, Charlotte continued: “It’s crazy how common this RSV virus is, this Bronchiolitis. So many people have been in same boat and it’s like everybody said, it’s just not spoken about at all.

I didn’t realise the effects of it or anything and so many people have been in the same situation as me. The doctors saying that it’s a cold and stuff and using our mother’s instinct and just knowing that our babies are aren’t right and getting here in the right time. It’s just so scary to see your baby go through this at such a young age.”
Charlotte said when they arrived in hospital on Thursday they were rushed in and little Jude was given blood tests, X-rays and had “tubes everywhere”. After struggling to breathe, he was put on nine litres of oxygen, but this has since been reduced to one.
Mum-of-two Charlotte, who also shares two-year-old son Noah with fiancé Matt Sarsfield, explained: “He’s starting to pick up a bit now and they’re turning his oxygen down, slowly weaning him off so we’re getting there. He’s completely feeding on me now, no feeding through the tube, so that’s a good sign. Everything is getting better and we’re trying to be more positive now.”
After nipping home for a bath and a change of clothes while mum Tracy took over Jude duty for a few hours, Charlotte was back at hospital with her “boobs bulging.” She said: “I gave him [Jude] a right good feed. I’ve been singing to him constantly and he’s been giggling and smiling.”
Revealing she hopes to take her little man home soon, Charlotte added: “He’s gone down from last night, he was on nine, then six, then nothing to go back up to one.
“I don’t want to leave until he’s completely right. I don’t want to get home and have to come back and stuff. I literally cannot put him down. He just has to be on me, but I don’t mind. I’m just so happy that he’s getting better, my beautiful boy.”
